The offending item was lying on the couch; the queen prowled through the common area, sometimes drifting into her room and back. Oddly, she never went outside a certain radius from the coat, sneaking glances at it as though its owner would suddenly appear back in it. She hated her own sentimentality with a passion. She had been a fool to allow herself to grow so attached.

When the knock came she twisted around to face the door. "Come in," she said impatiently.

Once the slayer had the go ahead, she lifted her hand to the knob, twisting it and pushing the door open. Melaka entered the strange apartment, never having been in there before. Her blue gaze darted left then right, focusing in on the undead elf. The slayer was a sight to be seen. A mixture of pale and flushed, from being out in the wind and snow, running from place to place.

The snow had melted against her, causing her shirt and slacks to dampen in places. Black and pink locks were loose and hanging limply around her face. Her throat was tight and her chest hurt from the cold and from the loss of a certain former cop.

Unmoved, Sylvanas pointed in the direction of her aide's last remaining possession. "Take it, and leave." There would be no comfort from the undead elf. She did not want to deal with another's pain as well as her own. Already her still heart was sealing up this wound. Those unlucky enough to cross her path later would find her cold and volatile, more so than now: verily the grand, terrible Lady of the Forsaken.

Melaka's cornflower blues traveled along the line the taller woman was pointing. She saw it, brown leather with the wool around the collar, bottom hem, and cuffs. Seeing it off of the ex-cop made her heart lurch and Mel took one slow step forward, then another.

Within a minute or so, the vampire slayer reached the couch, almost afraid to touch the jacket. If she touched it, if she took it, it'd mean he was really, really gone.
