Characters: OU!Rouge, OU!Shadow Where: Mui-Enas When: Afternoon Summary: Rouge witnessed Shadow and Tohru kissing and requests to speak to Shadow about it. Warnings: None except serious talk.
Shadow gave her a confused expression as he walked over to his side of the room, taking a seat on the edge of his bed. What on earth was she-
Oh. Right.
To be fair, he'd forgotten already that he'd heard something the other day while he'd been with Tohru. It hadn't exactly been memorable, and he'd been otherwise occupied. But it was easy enough to guess that one way or another, she'd noticed. He shook his head a little, looking down toward his feet before bringing his eyes up to meet hers.
"I take it you haven't noticed the connection between the sudden appearance of drinks in everyone's rooms and the emotional shift in the compound as a whole, then," he said, trying to be informative and hoping it didn't come off as insulting.
It had been hard not to notice, given that she was afflicted with it as well. That answered most of her questions and settled some of her worry. The new worry was that it didn't mean things wouldn't continue after this ended. He could decide to stay with Tohru and the girl wouldn't object.
Rouge kept her eyes on him and nodded. "Of course I have. I just wanted to be sure." Going further would require tact and she decided to wait to see if he wanted to say anything before trying to go farther. She didn't want him thinking she was jealous of Tohru or something, even if it was a little true. That wasn't the point of this conversation and she didn't want it to come off as such.
"The effect of those drinks won't last forever. Until then, there's no point in fighting it," he stated.
There was no need to tell her how happy Tohru made him right now, that he wouldn't fight this if he could. She didn't need to hear that in the state she had to be in right now. She also didn't need to know how much it hurt to know that he would lose all of this in a matter of days. A week at most. Nothing here ever lasted longer than that, and he wouldn't force it to.
With him talking like that, she didn't need to bother reaching the point of why she had wanted to talk to him. It didn't sound as if he planned to pursue this afterwards and if he did, well, she could bring it up again.
"I guess," she said with a shrug. "It's a hard thing to fight, anyway." Keeping her expression neutral was difficult and it faltered slightly. She looked away to keep it as hidden as possible. Why couldn't she have had that? Tohru didn't deserve any of this.
