Dani had just wanted to take a walk. In ghost form at the moment. Two advantages, one was it was rarely any colder in ghost form than it normally was no matter the weather, and two, it hid the fact rather well she hadn't been sleeping well. Though she still wore a coat. Walking around with a midriff shirt usually got weird stares.

She paused when she saw someone walking, thinking for a moment. "Ah, that's his alternate! I'm sure of it." Dani murmured to herself and jogged over to the man. "Hey there, Duo. How are you?" She asked, greeting him with a wide smile.

Duo turned to look at the girl. Huh.. Well.. "Hey there." He said, his voice friendly but fairly indifferent. He smiled courteously and continued walking. He smirked at her, to tell her silently to walk with him. Girl with white hair, bandana, green eyes? That was pretty unique, he figured.

"You know me?" He asked as he continued to walk.

"We talked a few times when I was here before I think, but mostly I know your counterpart." Dani said, walking beside him, shrugging her shoulders a bit. "Thought I'd say hi anyway, even if I'm wrong."

Duo smiled a little, shrugging dumbfounded. "I think this might be a good time to mention I lost my memory and we need to reintroduce myself.." He chuckled, offering his hand.

"Also, mind tellin me why it's almost 30 below freezing and you don't have a coat?"

These holidays meant nothing to Azula. While some found comfort, even joy from such things, Azula could only focus on what was no longer here in Econtra. The year was almost over , and Azula had found the close to be a rather bitter one: Mercury was gone, she had felt death on her shoulders, and she could not escape the dreams in which her final sanity cracked and her father stared with no compassion ( ... )

It wasn't so much the ice that alarmed him after he noticed but the fact that some how or another, the girl he met the other day, Azula, had just melted it with her mere presence. He did think her kiss had a little extra spice to it, after all. He stood dead in his tracks and looked away briefly in response to her words.

"Yeah.. Probably should.." He looked back, brows even, "Thanks." But really the last thing he was concerned about was a cracked head right now, after all, he had enough balance, and what with his strength? He could handle it.

"What're you up to?" Small talk, that was really all their brief relationship amounted to, atleast now anyway.

"Think nothing of it," Azula said loftily. "I was coming down the path and saw the ice after all. You could say that spotting that is my specialty. I've been trying to diminish the ice on these paths in the last few days so its a little easier to walk them."

Small talk. Not one of Azula's strong suits, at least not at the moment, but certainly manageable. "At the moment, little. I mentioned the soiree before, I'm just getting ready for it, as I don't know all of Mai's friends. Other than that, I suppose you could say I'm out for a stroll and a lament."

Duo shrugged, he was grateful, but there really wasn't much point to dwell on something so tedious, right? "Pretty useful. How'd you do it?" He asked, with earnest curiosity.

He responded with a nod, "Sounds you'll have some fun." he chuckled a little, quirking a brow. "Lamenting seems to be a popular pass time.. huh."

Toys. Toys, tricks, socks of coal, that was what Christmases were made of. Or so it seemed to Cat. The muddle of worry and anger and general gloom was floating, floating, floating away... through the roof of the compound and out and out. Cheer was in the air again, sprinkled with little dots of hope and happiness ( ... )

Duo startled for a second, looking around before his eyes fell upon the colorful, grinning cat. Talking cat. Like talking hedgehogs and talking echidnas. Weird. That's basically the gist, right?

Spite the fact he had to relearn everything and the fact that everything came down to the fact that this place was like a nightmare.. he sighed.

"What do you mean?" He asked, good cheer is not for everyone.. Okay, got it.. "Look, I think you got the wrong idea, also, talking cat. What's up with that?"

Cat's fur rippled as he stepped neatly--albeit warily--closer. That was the thing with furless... you never could be absolutely sure they wouldn't just swat at you with their hands or feet or large utensils simply because they could. Or were uninterested in sharing their milk.

"I mean as I say, and say as I mean," Cat replied, fur flickering through a series of amused pinks and blues before settling again into his customary gray. "I don't have the wrong idea, I have many right ones--one for every occasion. Stuck in a sulk, shopping in bulk... unhappiness is telling if you're a Cat, and it clings to you like marmalade on a Doormouse."

That thing was just plain freaky. It was a acid trip cat. "Are you real?" Duo asked incredibly, squinting his eyes at the purple, creepy as hell cat.

Okay, not it was normal. He placed a hand to his head. "Okay, You know what? I'm sad.. Know what? I just realized I'm more crazy then I thought. So I'll humor you. I've got girl problems, got it? Who doesn't?"

It was really too cold to be out long, though his time out was beginning to edge on just that. Maybe it was time to unwind from all the madness, more so lamenting over what was at home. Gotham, Rachel- after quite a few christmas's cooped up in an office or study before, the recent years with her at his side... he had grown used to it it seemed. The idea made his lips quirk, a chuckle escaping in a white cloud. Homesick and nearly three decades old- he wasn't sure if that was a good sign or sad.

The thinking though didn't keep him alert enough to notice the other in thought, shoulder bumping into Duo's with a start. "Ah- sorry about that." He said, turning with a sheepish look to the younger man. "Wasn't paying attention."

Oh, but, see? That's just enough to get Duo out of his little world, isn't it? He took a sharp step back, looking up at the man wide eyed before calming himself and giving the guy a solid once over. Sure, it wasn't like this guy was a freak or something like a killer clown guy.. But old habits die hard.

His first impulse was to walk away, because, really, what could he do by a guy twice his age?

"Ah.." he reached his hand out to shake. "Name's Duo Maxwell, You?"

"Duo?" Harvey asked, surprise on his features. Duo was the name of one of the buried, though this boy looked healthy, nothing like the others he had seen in the clinic. He shook the surprise and took the offered hand, shaking firmly and offering a smile.

"Harvey Dent, nice to meet you." he said, trailing off as he released the hand. "Were you... one of the kidnapped people was named Duo." he settled on. It was certainly a strange enough name not to be common.

Duo snorted a wry laugh, shaking his head, "Nah, that'd be my double, but I get where you'd get us confused. Save a few obvious differences we're pretty similar." He replies coyly, but contains his ego, somewhat.

"He's.. recovering.." He hoped.

Ned was in a similar state, stalking about the snowy streets in great disarray. His scarf was uneven, one end trailing close to the ground, and his head was bent low, hands shoved far into his pockets. He had finally succumbed to panic - waking up in his bed and finding out that entire days had gone by, weeks, and he had experienced nothing. Because he hadn't spoken to many people around him, the Piemaker believed the state of suspended animation was unique to himself, and was deeply troubled.

When he ran headlong into Duo, the Piemaker's instinct was not to steady himself by grabbing onto the boy, but to keep from touching him. As a result, while wheeling to get his balance, Ned managed to find a patch of ice on the sidewalk and slip on it, falling head-over-heels into a snow drift.

It happened fast, and though not too fast that Duo would have completely missed it, but unfortunately he didn't quite have his wits about him. He near helplessly watched as the man walked into him, sending the boy back a pace, wheeling back, failing and falling right into a bank of snow.

So what else could he do beside reach down, grab the man by the shoulder and arm and help him up?

"Way to whip out, pal."

"Sorry!" Ned exclaimed, taking the offered hand and getting to his feet. He was a good half-foot taller than Duo. He ran a hand through his hair in embarrassment, and excused himself, "I didn't look where I was going."

"Don't worry.. Everyone's doin it.. second time in the last hour, pal.." Duo patted the nervous man on the shoulder. "Don't think we've met."
