Helena had sent the message in that hurried way that she does [[^_- lol]] requesting to meet with Harvey. He was the only person she really knew who would know anything about anything in relation to what was going on. She had heard that Cissie and the others had been found but all the details she could find in relation to such topics were scattered, vague, and sometimes even random. She couldn't seem to get a straight story from anyone ( ... )

The panic was apparent on Helena's face. It was not a feeling she was accustomed to dealing with and therefore when it did register fully on her face came off as panic and anger all mixed together in a strange kind of way ( ... )

Harvey raked his mind for the list - knives, plenty of them, some various things that didn't seem dangerous (obviously at least), his PDA but nothing eye catching like a picture. He put his hands at his waist, watching her with the solemnity of one on a job.

"I'm almost positive we didn't find any pictures but I'll be sure to double check." He said, intent on doing just that as soon as he left. He spoke almost distractedly. "We'll search his room too - maybe he left it there."

He offered Helena a smile, bringing his thoughts back to the here and now, the concerned girl. "Don't worry Helena, better a bit late than too late right?" he asked. "We'll make sure if nothing else he can't get to the picture even if we can't locate it. He won't be given the chance." He smiled a bit more sincerely. "You look like you need some sleep, or just rest. Don't work yourself too hard with all this."

Helena look at Harvey with a sincere gleam in her eye. It was nice to feel like she was being looked out for. And she knew, without a doubt, that if the picture was anywhere near The Joker at all, Harvey would see to finding it. She realized that she had every faith in him and the panic fled from her face.

"Thank you, Harvey. And I'll be sure not to over work myself. It's just that's it been a rough week is all... And don't worry about me I've gone plenty without sleep before. It's the panic and stress and stuff that gets to me. But I won't let it anymore." Helena smiled.

Suddenly a chill ran up her back and it occurred to Helena that she was quite cold from not moving.

"Do you mind if we walk around for a bit and chit chat? Or do you need to be going places?"

"That doesn't exactly comfort me." Harvey said in amusement over her comments on sleeping habits.

For a moment he was going to say no, he had to deal with this and several other things. It was one of the reasons he had never truly had friends before, who had the time? There was always a test or work or case and never enough leeway to sit back and mingle. He stopped when he looked back at Helena, who had been stressed herself, tired and weighed down and so young to be in a war. Instead of speaking he smiled, stepping towards the door.

"Nowhere important." He said, opening the door. "We can see if that Fiji's place serves coffee - I wouldn't mind something warm to drink in this weather."

"Ooo I'd love a good cup of tea if they have it." Helena smiled in Harvey's direction, thanking him for the time he had been spending with her. She knew that he must have a million other things he needed to be doing right now but she was relieved that he thought it not a waste of time to spend time with her instead.

Helena hugged the coat to her and shivered a bit. It had been getting very cold and she was British! She knew this weather like the back of her hand and yet it still effected her. It was annoying. She had hoped she would be used to it by now. She blamed her clothes for not fitting properly and letting the cold in.

"So, umm... tell me more about yourself Harvey. What is the world like where you came from?"

"That's a very unique coat." Harvey commented as he walked, glancing over at the younger girl and garment. "Did the computer system here mess up the size?" It did seem a bit too big. Hell, for all he knew it was a british thing.

The question gave him pause, eyes tilting up as he considered. "Gotham... it's not considered a good place. In fact it's called the least moral city in our world." he admitted, hands in his coat pockets as he continued. "The criminal activity is everywhere, corruption in the police and government is common. The statistics of a citizen being involved in a crime at sometime of their lives is above seventy five percent." He paused before smiling over at Helena. "That being said there's no where else I'd rather live and work - die if need be. It's... Gotham's lost after so long. It just needs some guidance and it has been making it's way slowly back." he said, adding dryly. "Well before our laughing friend came along."

Helena looked up at Harvey, tilting her head just a bit. Yes, the coat was a bit big for her but not by too much. The Doctor was taller than her but not by so much ( ... )

"The Doctor?" Harvey recognized the name vaguely, from some passing conversation. That woman he met around the time he first arrived, she had mentioned him briefly, something about aliens and the like. "I met a woman who knew him - she seemed to think highly of him. You two were close?" he asked, hoping it wasn't something too raw to ask about but so far she seemed almost nostalgic rather than stricken by the talk.

Harvey couldn't help but smile at the comments and apology, a sincere expression as he turned the smile to her. "Gotham's my family." he said simply as he turned back to looking ahead. "I can't abandon them no matter how nutty they may be. Besides, I asked them to believe in me in a time hope was hard to come by and they did. I owe them every promise I made, probably more."

Helena still felt bad for sounding like a complete jerk but she also felt, as she heard Harvey talk, that he took no offense to what she said. "Well then, I am glad that Gotham has a person like you. It sounds like they could use a few more of you, but, I hope that everything works itself out in the end and turns out for the better."

Then, "And no, the Doctor and I were not too terribly close, not as close as he and Rose were, but when I first came here he was one of the first people to welcome me in. There was something about it him that was just so terribly honest... I felt safe with him. Like with you." Helena had a weird kind of look on her face when she said that but she was an honest person and she always spoke her mind. No matter what.

"We have a handful of decent men." Harvey mused. Jim Gordon, even if his men... no, that was another matter he wouldn't dwell on. Bruce Wayne, ha, Batman if Harvey was right about the identity. He smiled wryly. "The best we can do is try and set and example, right?"

Harvey glanced over as the girl spoke, especially the last part, a slight shock crossing his features before he smiled more sincerely, turning his head with a slight chuckle. "Not many people say that honest bit to a lawyer or politician, let alone both." He joked, feeling a touch bad regardless. He apparently wasn't so trust worthy if the 'future' was any show. 'Two faced,' the cops called him. He shook his head.

"He sounds like a good man." He said. "I hope he did find his way home." The restaurant came into view and Harvey stepped forward, opening the door for Helena. "Say Helena, there was actually something I wanted to run by you."

Before they reached the cafe Helena saw as Harvey smiled at her and then shook his head as if shaking away a thought that he didn't quite agree with. "Harvey? I hope you don't mind my asking, but when you shook your head just now? Why did you do that? Do you not believe me? Because I mean it when I say that you feel safe and honest. I don't mean to sound like a child but I'm not lying."

When they reached the cafe she walked through the door as he mentioned needing to "run something by her". She smiled to herself, not used to anyone holding the door for her for one. "Thank you," she said. "What's up? Other than the head shaking, that is?"

The corners of her lips tilted into a smile. If she was anything at all, no one would be lying if they called her persistent. She was one of the most persistent people she knew when it came to certain things.

Harvey couldn't help but smile at the observation. "You sure you don't want to be a lawyer? You have the eye for detail." he commented as he found them a table, pulling the seat out for Helena (if that was one thing he learned it was being polite) before taking his own seat. His expression went thoughtful, not entirely sure how to answer her inquiry without possibly destroying what trust she did have for him. That's a lot of faith in her you have. A snide part of his mind supplied as he folded his hands in front of him ( ... )

Helena sat down thanking Harvey again for his kindness. She also giggled at his comment on her keen eye. It was something she picked up because of her need, as an artist, to see detail ( ... )

Harvey watched her as she spoke, expression a mild surprise warping into heavy consideration. She was right - her way of thinking most of all. It was the same as Gotham, even if things seemed bleak, impossible, nothing changed if no one stood up. He had been given a chance here to make things right, something he owed to Gotham and to the people he had met in the compound.

It won't change the corruption- he ignored it, glancing back to Helena with a wry but sincere smile, almost nostalgic. "Sometimes you remind me so much of Rachel." He said in a light bemusement- the hope, the words, he could almost see Rachel speaking the exact same to him. When he realized he just compared a fairly young girl to his love light he had the good grace to glance away with a chuckle, running his hand over his face a moment before looking back more seriously ( ... )

If she had noticed any changes of expression in his face all that went away when he said, "Sometimes you remind me so much of Rachel." She wasn't expecting it at all. The surprise registered on her face for only a moment and when Harvey turned his head away to chuckle Helena could only do the same. It was all she could do aside from blush. And she was definitely blushing ( ... )
