Even if you weren't religious in the slightest, you had to appreciate Soviet Architecture. Decrepit as it now was, it still held a lot of beauty and history; but... you'd be unlikely to ever hear Yuriy talk about that kind of thing.

Donned in a requisitioned ski-suit, he was busying himself at the kitchen table; Eko off wherever it was he decided to be. Papers were neatly stacked on the table and in front of him. The PDA to one side and a cup of warm tea to the other. A foot that hung from the leg being draped over his other knee kicked idly.

Yuriy didn't believe that this place could or would be organized. Didn't believe that those who were here could or would fight or help in efforts for organization. Didn't believe that the laws he knew and were used to would work in application over the entire compounds population; nor the laws he believed in. What he did believe was that if he formed a unit dedicated to keeping order they would make a difference, and there would be more organization. Whether or not he was just a semi higher- ( ... )

Rei's sense of aesthetics was perhaps not the best, but indeed, the church had something that triggered her need to give it a closer look.
Had she stayed away from it because she didn't quite know what to make of it? Perhaps. She did approach its entrance once or twice, but the building seemed obviously inhabited, since light actually shone from it.
Would she be one to disturb whatever was going on in here? Probably not.
It is therefore with discretion that she started to open the door, as silently as possible.
She had no idea why, but this place inspired as much silence as the graveyard.

He didn't bother to look up this time when he heard the doors opening. It was only when Yuriy rose from his chair to refill his drink that he had noticed who had come through those doors. The redhead stopped at the counter below the arch and leaned his weight a little. His heels crossed lightly. Now what would someone like her (did she want to be addressed as a he? -- eck, what did it matter) be doing in a place like this? All things considered.

"Braving the memories?" He spoke up after a moment with a bit of a smirk. The cup slid up onto the counter next to him for now. This wasn't his property, so she could do as she wanted here. Mostly.

The place was very surprisingly cleaner than she expected. It was obvious people took care of it.
She never quite got the role of churches, but it was certainly beyond the spiritual outlet made for monotheists.
She turned her head at the familiar voice, visibly surprised. Now what would Yuriy, Mr.Big Bad Wolf, do in there?
Rei sometimes hated her inability to think. The Abbey; or perhaps Yuriy was actually of the religious type; anyway, there was a valid and clear reason.

''Oh. Not really, just...'' she trailed off for a moment, ''really looking at it for once.''
