Perhaps there really was more going on here than being stuck inside the strangest holosuite program she'd seen since she was taller, had longer hair and was married to an irate Klingon warrior. After hours of searching the compound and trying without any sort of luck to locate a panel or raise anyone on the communication channels that should have been accessible with a tap to her combadge, she'd given up and retreated to the quarters that seemed to be, at least partly, hers while she was stuck in this predicament. And what it was, exactly, she hadn't quite figured out. It was something beyond being stuck in a holosuite and yet, she couldn't quite bring herself to believe what the residents were telling her. Blame it on eight lifetimes of experiences or perhaps on her training as a Starfleet Officer, but she would need to be shown more evidence than what she'd been presented with thus far to prove to her that she was brought here at random ( ... )

Aligoté had been staring moodily out the window, having heard no sound in the apartment since sending -- ordering, really -- Jing off to get some sleep. He'd spoken briefly over messengers with Sasuke, and made a generic sort of apology regarding the noise level, but other than that had simply brooded.

At the unfamiliar female voice, he turned, raising an eyebrow at the petite woman. "Nope," he responded. "He's sleeping an' that's a good thing for right now. Who're you?"

Sleep did seem like something the young man she'd spoken with over the very primitive communcation system set up here needed. Despite the confidence that Benjamin had in her abilities, she'd only been a councelor for a relatively short while--especially when speaking from the position of a Joined Trill who was getting pretty close to hitting the four hundred mark. Her experience in life itself was vast, but when it came to holding the position, that amount of time paled in comparison to the former. But, during that short expanse of time, she'd learned that the underlying factor in a lot of crew members issues wasn't really an issue at all, but more a lack of sleep, which tended to lead to other stress-causing factors that only served to intensify situations that would otherwise not be as bad as they claimed by the time they decided to speak to someone about them. She couldn't say that sleep deprivation was the whole of Jing's issues, but she wouldn't be surprised if it played a role--even a minor one ( ... )

Aligoté managed to nod and shake his head simultaneously, but added, "Yeah..." to the end of it. He didn't know what he and Jing were considered at the moment, but he didn't feel like explaining the intricacies of the relationship to a stranger.

"You must be the new person whose stayin' here," he observed. He remembered Jing's angry post. "I'm Aligoté. Don't take that cranky message he left too seriously... the girl who was stayin' here just before you, she was one of the ones who disappeared, so..."

later on with Jing. embalmment December 11 2008, 03:03:11 UTC
Sasuke let things settle a little before he decided to talk more personally with Jing. He'd been harsh, he knew. It was a tactic he often used to push or fend off (or both) Naruto; and most people, on second thought. He wasn't too sure what was going on. When Jing had said things were more organized he was right and wrong.

The fact that there were groups of people didn't make anything more organized. Actually, in this situation, it made things worse. Especially when they chose not to communicate or work together. Even more when they didn't even know what they were talking about. Things had slipped since he left. Sasuke was suspicious things really slipped when Mercury left, but he kept this to himself for now.

It wasn't long before his feet had reached Ast-Tessera. What was crimson hues had returned to soft coals. His attire the same. He rose his knuckles to knock; once, twice, three simple knocks.

It was Aligoté who answered the door, giving Sasuke a once-over before wordlessly inviting him in. He knew who had stopped Jing from making a colossal error and appreciated that there were still people around who could get things done without exacerbating the problems themselves. Plus, Aligoté had already talked to him on messengers, and this person was the only one who'd shown any interest -- concern? -- over Jing's current state.

"He's awake now," was all the winged one said, pointing towards the closed door that was Jing's room. "Thanks for... y'know."

Jing was sitting on the bed when the door opened, legs folded comfortable under him. One hand cupped his chin in a thoughtful position, the other holding loosely onto his messenger. He looked up at Sasuke's entry.

To be honest, he didn't think that he had ever met Jing or Aligoté face to face before in his entire time at Econtra. What drew him here? First it was the simple ill movement Jing had decided to pull; and during that was the reason Sasuke had come back to further speak with Jing.

The Uchiha nodded shallowly. He still had trouble taking 'thank you's and compliments, so he bit his tongue back from any arrogant comment for now. Preventing himself from saying something he didn't particularly mean, and quietly mentioned, "you're welcome," in afterthought.

Sasuke moved to the darkened room. He was fine at seeing in the dark so he made no notion of turning the lights on. The slender figure leaned against the door frame for now; he broke the silence after a moment or two. "How are you fairing?"

Jing didn't mind at all that Sasuke hadn't turned on the lights; the dark didn't bother him either. "Been better," he answered to the inquiry. "Been worse," he added after a moment.

"Samus was... really the last person here that I had any attachment to. She'd be mad, if she saw what I tried to do."
