It had nearly slipped her mind until she recalled the date, the awful date she would've much rather have wiped from her memory but at the same time it was the one thing she was unwilling to give up for any reason. Sam had been one of the two close people to her and thus she would make damn sure that he had the remembrance he deserved, even if no one else paid any attention to this display.

Walking towards the graveyard her eyes were cast towards the ground, the memories still all too fresh in her head and by far the most recent thing before she was dragged to this hell hole that called itself a military compound.

Glancing up she took notice of the form near the gates, a little wary instantly. That was until she got a closer look at her, she could find similarities to a certain someone she knew but this person was aged a little more. But it was worth a try, "Dr. Halsey...?"

So she was younger. This confirmed it. She remembered well her appearance when months had passed after the Spartans received their augmentations: She was shorter, her voice was softer, but she had the body language that Halsey would easily tell, even if she had been inside her armor.

It was almost like looking at old footage files that were from the time her Spartans were young. Halsey got a strong feeling of maternalism for the younger Spartan once she saw her. She felt the urge to protect her, regardless of the consequences.

"Kelly," Halsey nodded to her, trying to give her a comforting smile, "It's nice to see you." While her Spartans in her world did not accept strong bursts of emotion -John and Kelly would most likely be the same, she assumed-, she wanted to give her at least a bit of comfort.

Kelly had initially thought that she wouldn't feel quite this way about her coming here and yet she still felt the attachment to her. "Nice to see you, as well. It's been a while." A bit of a year, in fact, last time she looked at the calendar from her time of being in this damn place.

"John should be here soon, I think." She knew that he wouldn't stay away from something like this, particularly when it involved someone as close to them as family itself was. Sure there was no grave here for him, but it was still honoring either way.
