Having someone greet her like that, with a image projected through the Force rather than with the use of words, was a small comfort in this place and she found herself smiling slightly. That was something her master would have done. Barely acknowledged her on the the outside--no looks, no gestures, no words--but letting her know by other means that he had. Normally, it was something to tell her to stay where she was, to get out of there, to follow him, or to go do some other task. Orders, really. Though, sometimes he sent her strange projections that while he fully understood, served only to baffle her--and usually, of the strangest requests. He could be the strangest person at times, but she found it to be one of his more endearing qualities ( ... )

Ahsoka grimaced somewhat, despite the feelings of calm that washed over her. This wasn't something Anakin had ever intended on her knowing, but he'd revealed the knowledge to her when they'd been sent to -- to deal with the slavers there. She'd been in outrage over the enslavement of her species and he'd seemed just as angry, an anger that Ahsoka hadn't understood and thought was only there because she was upset. But no, she'd learned that it was because he knew, first hand, what it was like to be a slave. Obi-Wan had told her this in order to get her to understand where he was coming from and after boldly asking Anakin himself about it later, learned a few things about his life on Tatooine, which would also go to explain a few things about how he'd acted and the things that he'd said while they were on the planet to give Rotta back to Jabba.

"He didn't do anything," she said. "He was born one. His mother was a slave. That's why he doesn't really know where he was born. If it was on Tatooine or another world before his mother ( ... )
