There was one thing - place, in fact - that the snow reminded Maria of.

Airyglyph.

It wasn't that it had been her home. She was a stranger to most, if not all, worlds; she came and went so frequently that even Earth, her world of origin, had became just another rendezvous point in her many travels. The closest she had to a home was the Diplo, Quark's flagship. And yet, standing there with snow falling all around her... she was reminded of city on the mountaintop, and of the long winter walks she frequently associated with it.

She sighed. That was over, now.

She pulled her coat around her tighter and resumed her walk, coming across a familiar face in no time. "Favorite season?" she asked quietly as she approached, moving to stand beside Aligoté. She smiled a little at him.

A puff of breath frosted in the air as Aligoté half-turned, surprised by Maria's approach, before his expression became faintly bemused.

"Not favourite really, just the one I know the least. He never liked winter; too many bad memories. So when it turned cold an' snowy he'd take us somewhere warm. I liked it... I don't like bein' cold and feathers don't keep you that toasty. But the snow itself is nice..." He closed his hand around the snowflakes on his glove, melting them.

"I'm just bein' sentimental, I guess."

Maria's smile had turned a little sad as she listened to Aligoté talk about 'him'. She didn't have to ask who he was; she remembered from their previous conversations that it was no less than Jing. Their leader, up until he pulled that stunt with Belldandy, anyway. Fayt had told her to trust him, but she still wasn't sure how she really felt about that.

"You're not the only one, actually," she said quietly after a while, holding out her hand as well to catch a few snowflakes. She watched as they melted into her own glove, then sighed, the smile gone now.

Aligoté, mistakenly thinking that his own comment had caused Maria's smile to flee, tried to shed a kinder light on the end of his tale. "Well, no more bad memories for him now... unless it snows in Heaven, but that'd just be mean, right?"

He touched her sleeve. "You okay...?"
