The Piemaker had been reminded again and again since he had been brought to this compound how very much he did not like surprises. As a matter of fact, he hated them. He liked to know when things would happen and why so that he could prepare himself accordingly. What he could have done to prepare himself for a girl coming through the floor and then becoming solid, he wasn't so sure.

As it was, Ned shivered violently, setting both hands on the counter to steady himself and staring at Dani with an open-mouthed expression of disbelief.

"C-can I help you?" he asked.

"I believe that's my line." Dani said, dropping the few inches to the ground as she stopped hovering, a white ring forming around her middle before traveling over her body to reveal a girl who looked similar in body type, but different in coloring. "I came to help with the pies!"

As jumpy and panicky as he might seem, Ned was not necessarily easy to scare. Certain things set him off at once, yes - fears that his abilities would be discovered, concern for Chuck, etc. But ghosts had never been on the list for him, as they had been for the other boys at the Longborough School.

Letting out a deep breath, Ned let go of the counter.

"Dani, right?"

"Yep." Dani said, walking over and holding out her hand. "Pleased to meet you."
