John Preston didn't have a patrol, per se, but he was becoming accustomed to walking the city streets and occasionally the park on an almost daily basis by this point in time. Today just so happened to take him awfully close to one of the empty lots on the edge of the viable grounds within the Obex.

He heard the single gunshot and instantly his senses came to life. Instinct took over as his muscles became tense and ready, and he became suddenly very alert. His keen eyes swept the perimeter. Already, within a milli-second, two two pistols were clasped firmly, gently in his hands, seemingly coming from nowhere.

He stepped forward with a slightly quickened stride and his eyes narrowed as they found the source within the empty lot. He kept the guns lowered--it only looked like "harmless" target practice. But he approached cautiously all the same.

"Sir. Your name and intended future use with that gun would be highly appreciated at this time. Please." He said when he was close, but not too close. The last word was said with the barest ( ... )

Harvey turned as he first heard the approach, a moment away from firing his second shot when he noticed Wayne walking forward, though somehow... he seemed different. He turned, offering a half smile in greeting, about to make a vocal one as well when the man's voice and words threw him off ( ... )

"Bruce Wayne, yes," the Cleric said in complete monotone. "So I have been told. Although my resemblance to the Warden has also been noted. You are another friend of his, I see." So not even a question it wasn't funny. A very assumed, and perfectly knew it was correct to most degrees, fact. Preston was an intuit. He knew what you were thinking before you did.

"Grammaton Cleric First Class John Preston," he said, his form becoming a little straighter as he did so as if coming to attention, "and under the circumstances of the truth you just told me I can safely say it is good to meet you. Thank you for cooperating."

His head almost seemed to tilt to the side slightly. "May I ask whom as issued this death threat against you?"

It would have been strange even if the almost robotic man had not had Bruce's face, but with it just made the whole conversation edge of surreal. The name made his straighten more, Preston he said, that was the name of the man who knew of this 'Princess' the Joker associated with. It made things a great deal easier to meet him this way rather than calling him out, even if the circumstance were stranger than even Harvey was used to.

"Ah yes, well we're acquainted." He said, a bit thrown. "You even-" sound alike. He shook his head, getting over the bizzare circumstance and offering a smile instead.

"Not a problem, sorry to concern you for a moment there." Harvey answered. "Nice to meet you too Mr. Preston, I've heard a little bit about you." he admitted, sliding the cartridge back into his gun but placing it in his belt.

"He calls himself the Joker." Harvey answered with a sigh, recalling the man's manic smile on the news as he killed the batman impostor, I'm a man of my word. "He tried to have me killed back in our world, and ( ... )

Persephone had returned to the scene of the crime to see if she could discern anything about her current state of mind. There had been absolutely nothing of any real interest around the cafe that she could find -- no clues that could point her in the direction as to why things were foggy or why there were holes in memory. Fantastic, and that was meant in the most sarcastic way possible ( ... )

Harvey counted his bullets - not a great deal of them (he hoped they would never be used outside of this) but enough to continue at the least. He took aim and fired again, this time just a bit better but not quite good enough. He refused to be useless here, he had to be able to help some way, even if it made him uncomfortable. Part of him felt fine, almost more powerful, and he ignored it like he always did, always could. It was natural, wasn't it? He lifted the gun again.

He noticed something out of the corner of his eye and turned his head, tense a moment but then calm as he noticed the girl, who didn't seem particularly at ease herself. He offered a smile, uncocking the gun and holding it in the most nonthreatening way he could manage.

"Hey there, sorry about the noise. I was just trying to practice." He explained, gesturing to the target.

The second shot made Persephone's knees buckle and she almost fell to the ground, the sound of it ringing in her ears. By the gods, that was loud up close and the way it seared a hole through that target... It was certainly no arrow and seemed far deadlier.

It took a moment for Persephone to acknowledge that he was talking to her, too shaken and staring wide and wild eyed at the gun. When she did notice, she jumped a little, nervous, and offered a quick smile and something mumbled in Greek while she dug for her PDA.

"No, sorry. Scared me, I wasn't sure what that was." Her fingers fumbled with the buttons as she typed, hand shaking. She'd get over the initial shock in a second, eyes trained on the gun as she held the communicator up.

Harvey blinked as she relayed the message, muttering something in a language he didn't recognize first. He made a show of putting the gun back in his belt, hopefully to ease the tension a little as he took a small step forward.

"I didn't realize anyone would be around." He admitted, smiling again and holding out his hand. "Harvey Dent, sorry again for that. I just figured if we're going to be attacked by aliens I should try to be useful in some way." Aliens or residents, though that part he did not add.

Harvey started at the voice, glance falling immediately on the boy. He was tense a moment by instinct before relaxing, letting out a breath and offering a half smile.

"Sorry, I didn't see you there." He said, uncocking the gun and putting it to his side. "I'm not disturbing you am I? Well considering the target practice I can't see how I'm not." The boy looked young yet surprisingly calm, considering the area and situation. Harvey made an effort to look sheepish, no use in scaring the poor kid, this place was bad enough.

"Well you're not the one making a racket with a dangerous weapon." Harvey answered, walking up and taking the offered hand. The kid seemed uncomfortable on his feet somehow, especially standing, and Harvey made an effort not to put too much force into the shake incase the kid was hurt- not that his arm seemed to be the problem.

"I'm Harvey Dent." He said. "Nice to meet you Quatre. I'm pretty new here so if this is some horrible breech of protocol feel free to chew me out about."

Cissie was returning from the park when she heard the gunshots. Her eyebrows shot up and she clutched her bow a bit tighter--she had taken to carrying it with her when she left the apartment, since Harth's threat. An arrow wouldn't do much against a bullet, but she approached the lot cautiously anyway. When she realized that the man with the gun was apparently just practicing, she stepped into sight and offered what she hoped was a friendly smile. She didn't want to look as tense as she felt, and pissing off or scaring a man with a gun was never a good idea.

She gestured to the targets. "See, with arrows, you can re-use your targets. Hi."

"You can also reuse your ammo." Harvey answered, uncocking the gun and smiling in return, his own show of 'don't worry, I'm not going to attack.' He noticed the bow, realization hitting him. Cissie was it? She certainly seemed like a determined young woman, as he had dubbed earlier, and his smile took on some amusement as he gestured to the bow.

"You any good with that?" He asked, offering his place to stand in front of the target, gun put away and hands at his waist.

Cissie gave a small laugh, amused. "I'm a pretty good shot," she said simply, shrugging a shoulder. Telling Harvey about her medal the way she had was kind of unusual for her; she usually downplayed her ability. She still wasn't completely sure why she'd been so honest with him.

Not that she had any idea that she was talking with Harvey now. She held out a hand in greeting. "I'm Cissie."

"I would hope so, my future fortune depends on it." Harvey answered, taking her hand with a firm shake and smiling. "It's nice to meet you face to face Cissie. I'm Harvey Dent."

He glanced at the bow, gesturing to it. "I would mind a demonstration. I'm curious to see the girl I'm banking my money on in action." he said with a smile, amused.

Riza paused in her walk when she heard gunfire. She followed the sound, her cat like ears twitching just a little bit. As long as no one was getting hurt, she wouldn't do anything hasty.

She blinked when she saw Harvey take his shot. Not bad at all. She smiled slightly as she took a couple of steps closer to him.

"Nice shot." She said.

Harvey glanced over, a bit startled but recovering quickly enough, smiling at the words. "Thank you." He answered, glancing back at the target. "I was afraid I'd be too out of practice."

He took a look at the girl- cat ears? Well that certainly wasn't the strangest thing he had seen around but... "You sound like you know what you're doing." He hazarded a guess, smiling as he held out the gun to her. He was almost hesitant to, handing a gun over to a stranger was hardly what he considered a good idea, but considering she had walked up of her own free will it seemed unlikely she was looking for a fight.

"Care to show me up?" He offered in amusement, almost a gesture to put any unease at the nature of his activity to rest.

She smiled again as she carefully took the gun. She did know what she was doing around guns, she was a skilled sharpshooter and sniper for her countries military.

"You must be new around here." She said, taking careful aim at one of the targets that had been set up. It had been a while since she had been out target practicing, and the gun that she had been handed wasn't one that she was used to.

Still, it didn't matter as she pulled the trigger, hitting the bulls eye. All guns were very similar and this one wasn't very different from her own pistol. She then turned back to Harvey, holding the gun out to him.

"I'm 1st Lt. Riza Hawkeye." She said, introducing herself.

Harvey's eyebrows shot up at the mark - he had expected something decent but a bulls eye threw him. He smiled and clapped his hands together a few time. "Bravo, now that was a nice shot." he said as he took the heated gun back. "You could definitely teach me a thing or two. I'm guessing from your title it was part of your military training."

He held out his free hand, smiling as he did so. "Harvey Dent, District Attorney back where I belong. New is a good way to put it, I've only been here a few days." he admitted. It was strange how settled he was getting as the time passed.
