Schuldig strode toward the cafe, ready to start off his and Harth's run of mayhem with a bang. They'd gone in circles about how to begin. He'd been intrigued by the idea, of course, but still had reservations on trusting Harth. And so it was decided that before it became a partnership they would both do a solo trick. See how it all came out. Trying it on, as it were ( ... )

((OOC: Everyone should have been unconscious for a short period of time after this. Feel free to post your chara's reaction as they wake up to this if you'd like. Looking forward to seeing everyone deal with this. ^^))

Ickis groaned as he pulled himself to his feet, one clawed hand on his head and the other's nails sunk deep into the dumpster beside him.

He remembered waking up, but apparently he'd passed out not long after. Maybe he'd been more tired than he originally thought.

He looked about to get his bearings. Funny. This place almost looked like...like...

He shook his head. Weird. It was almost as if he'd been reminded of some place he once knew. But he'd always been here in Econtra. There'd been nothing before then.

Faith came to with a groan and a half-hearted curse, clawing her way back to full consciousness in a span of seconds and breathing like she'd just run a cross-state marathon. What had... what?

She shook her head--memories of dreams, bad dreams, the kind where she'd given her heart and had it cut to ribbons. Sheets like summer. Stab and twist. Picnic with the Mayor. Slit his throat. I told you I had things to do. Running. Rain. Her knife. Crawling out of an open grave. Buffy. Buffy! All of her life. Buffy. She'd taken it all away ( ... )

Faith'd never been one for a wild goose chase, and yet that was pretty much exactly what this was turning out to be. They'd had an appointment, and Duo had skipped out on it.

Maybe it was making her feel old and gray, but if there was to be any hooky being played, Faith was the one well and used to playing it, and she was not all that good with being stood up. That, and she wasn't quite sure about Duo's intentions, he'd been way too quiet about what he was learning to shoot a crossbow for, antiquated a weapon though it may be. After all, she'd know better'n anyone how deadly even a stick of wood could be in the right hands. And Duo looked like he could pack a pretty solid punch you get him started. All that just didn't equate to things being gravy in her book.

That's what had her hunting for him, like some kind of messed up truant officer. She was either getting answers, or he was getting hog-tied. And she didn't think he'd like to know how or where she'd learned her knots.

Duo idly munched on his breakfast, looking out the window and watching the early birds meander about. He was sulking, and a little moody considering all that's happened. Disappointed in himself, his actions, and most of all the fact he inevitably fai- How can you fail so hard, so fast and on so many levels?
Reason he skipped out on Faith? Totally attributed to the burn scars on his chest and stomach. Aaand totally his fault. He stared out the window, waiting, and kinda hoping for something good to happen.

Well speak of the devil himself. (Not that Faith was one to say that often, even in thought. Didn't exactly believe in bad luck, but you live in her world long enough and you can't stay skeptical 'bout much that goes bumping at night.) Smack dab right in front of her, daydreaming the morning away.

That was another thing that was bugging her. Morning. Birds singing, sun rising, winds breezing, whole nine yards. And Faith was no morning person. One of the things 'bout being a Slayer. You got to appreciate your matinée grassés or whatever.

With a quick double check that the figure she'd spotted through the plate glass was indeed Duo and not some other scruffy-headed boytoy, she headed straight into the café. She'd think about paying later.

Slipping down into a chair directly in front of him, she planted her elbows firmly on the table and leaned forward. "So what was her name?"

Duo jolted out of his little day dream, turning his head to the girl sitting in front of him. Her? As in.. Oh.. that's right.. He forgot to.. they had a thing, didn't they?

"Something came up, Faith.." he said. "I was tryin to kill a vampire.. which.. by the way.. is your job.." He smirked. "For the record her name is Mel.. Probably hates me right now.."

Duo crossed his arms, folding them in front of him on the table. This conversation was not gonna be fun..
