Hakkai had returned to their apartment almost immediately after their conversation in his journal, just taking the time to gather the things he'd taken away with him after their previous talk. He'd taken the time to put away his things first, avoiding even looking at Gojyo's space, knowing the mess that was certain to be there.

But eventually he'd run out of his own things to do, and Gojyo would have a mess, so he went to see about straightening it out. He'd been in the middle of that, looking forward to Gojyo coming back now that they finally had everything worked out, when he abruptly caught Gojyo's aura just outside the door. He sat down in surprise; he'd thought he'd have more of a warning of his arrival than that.

As Gojyo opened the door and greeted him, he smiled in returning. A brief smile that flickered away, melting into a look where earnestness and worry warred. "Hello," he returned Gojyo's greeting.
