And thus Mahaado stalked her. Not stalked in that 'I'm going to rape you' way so much as 'I've got kitty instincts and need something to stalk'. He didn't even know it was her really. At first, he just saw ankles and went hunting that. Why he had even been on floor level to notice them? Well... he had this tail and he been trying to brush and fell over reaching for where it connected to the rest of him.

So now he was rather stuck... Nervous enough that he wanted to take off his headdress because of his ears, and curious about why she looked sad.

((OOC: I can't help it! *wails* Kaylee and Persephone are like constants in his life.))

It took Kaylee a little while to realize she was being followed. Paranoia wasn't a natural state for her, and in spite of everything, it had become no more so during her stay in the compound. Eventually, however, the sense of being watched slipped in, and she looked about nervously, even chancing a glance upward. "Hello? Anyone around?" she called, not immediately spotting any humanoid shapes.

A small peek a boo of kitty tail appeared as Mahaado gave a guilty cough to clear his throat. And then tried to catch that stupid appendage before it caused more problems for him. Stupid tail.

"Hello Lady Kaylee..."

Kaylee relaxed a little as she spied the tail - and then started as she heard the cough. Her hands scrabbled for purchase, and she swung back down onto the bridge from the rail, watching intently. "Mahaado?" she asked, a little uncertain. "Why're you a cat?" It would not be entirely surprising for there to have been an ill-timed spate of transformations, but she'd not heard the usual chorus of notices over the communicators to indicate such a thing had come to pass.

The redhead was numb to the world once she'd gotten the news that her worst fears were realized. Layla and Buffy were gone. She'd wept for a good long time after, until it hurt to breathe and her eyes ached, unable to produce tears. She dressed in jeans, her black sneakers, a red t-shirt and her black hoodie then forced herself outside.

She made her way to the park, not bothering to look to the sky, knowing the Keepers were still up there, watching everyone. Her bottom lip trembled as she crossed the grass to the hammock, catching sight of the cherry tree that Layla had called forth the first time they'd met. Her eyes burned at the urge to cry and she bit the inside of her cheek to keep herself from doing so.

Kaylee'd never been good at just sitting by and watching when someone was hurting. And whatever else one might say of her, she was damned good at recognizing that. She bit her lip, teeth worrying at it for a few seconds as she watched the redhead. Then, coming to a decision, she slid down from her perch on the bridge and made her way over, heavy boots crunching softly over the carpet of fallen foliage. "Hey," she called. "You all right? You don't look so..." She trailed off, one hand describing a vague circle. "So good."

At the young woman's question, Willow's shoulder rose as fell as she rocked back and forth in the hammock, her feet still touching the ground. "Two people very dear to me are gone," Willow whispered, her throat squeezing painfully as the tears built up behind her eyes.

The tears blurred her vision as she kept her head down, the hood resting on the top of her head, covering the back half of her hair. "Hasn't been a good week, no."

Kaylee's eyes flicked shut in a sympathetic wince. While it had been some time since she'd found a friend gone missing, she recalled it as being not unalike the sensation of being initially removed from her home. And with the Keepers now in charge, there was little chance to fall back on the hopeful notion that vanished loved ones might have been returned safely to their own worlds. "I'm sorry," she said quietly. "That...that ain't never a kind thing to have happen."

In contrasting comparison to most of the residents here who had been complaining about the lowering temperatures as of late, Relena happened to like winter. She had fond memories of building snowmen with her adoptive father and engaging in snowball fights with him when he wasn't busy and off on one diplomatic assignment after another. She'd tagged along on occasion during her youth, but it wasn't until recent years that she'd gotten a true taste of the life that he lead when she's assumed his former position as Vice Foreign Minster--only this time, to a better, fairer, and much more stable government.

She wished that sort of organization could be implemented here, but the residents didn't seem to want to put forth the effort, save Mister Jing, Miss Maria, and the other that were so desperately trying to do so.

Coming to the bridge, Relena paused, spotting a woman sitting upon the railing. She neared, sensing a certain air of familiarity about her, and offered a friendly smile. "Hello. Am I interrupting?"

Kaylee raised her head, turning her gaze away from where it had been resting upon a small whirl of dead leaves caught between wind and water. It was a childish thing to focus on, and gave the air of someone trying not to think of a particular topic. She looked about for a few seconds before she spied Relena, and smiled, the expression open and friendly and just a little bit grateful. She was the sort who was nearly always glad of company, and the troubled bent to her thoughts only served to make her more so. "Nah," she assured. "Ain't doin' much important to be interrupted. Just sittin' out for a bit of fresh air."

Company was also something Relena craved and was grateful for, but she'd had a bit of trouble in recent years gaining friendships that weren't false ones forged with hopes of convincing her to vote for or against this treaty and that. Being the Vice Foreign Minster had put a damper on that, but back in her world, she was willing to make such a sacrifice, as lonely as it made her at times, for the work she did benefited so many people. That highly contrasted the time she'd spent in high school, of course, for she'd been a social butterfly then--popular and liked, with friends and followers and always having someone she could find to hang out with and talk to when she needed it. Here...not so much.

"Mind if I join you?"

"Don't mind a bit," Kaylee replied, with bright cheer that denied the lingering sense of malaise she could not quite banish. It was a familiar face, the one she wore when helping plot out exploits that could, if they made a misstep at the wrong moment, end disastrously. She was unsure of herself, but if she pretended otherwise, played fine, then everything would be okay.

She tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear as the wind caught at it, tugging it across her face and perilously close to her mouth. Glancing at the rail, she then flipped her hand palm-up in a gesture of open invitation. "Mind the drop," she warned, the faint wry cast to her smile suggesting that she'd come closer than was comfortable to falling in herself, at some point or another.
