Characters: AU Duo Maxwell, open Where: When:Third apartment building roof. Summary: Duo is working on a little project to keep himself busy. Warnings: TBA
The Vampire Slayer made her way up the stairs to the roof, looking over and seeing Duo sitting on the couch. Walking over to the couch, she touched his knee with the toe of her boot several times. "Don't fall asleeeep. You'll get buuuuuurnt," Mel teased.
It was kinda awkward after what happened at the ball Belldandy had thrown, but Mel wasn't sure if Duo knew. Mel knew, and that was enough for her. So, maybe she was just the akward one.
No, he wasn't. What she did was her business. Kind of felt like their relationship has been a little cold lately. He lead the way down the stairs at a brisk pace, reaching their room in a matter of a few minutes. He went straight for the fridge to reheat the spicy stew.
Mel closed the door once they'd entered the apartment, sauntering over to the nearest couch, flopping into it, instantly becoming a hot dog with combat boots.
"Can't say I've ever had chili," Mel comments from the couch, glancing over towards the kitchen.
"It's good, you'll like it." Duo replied as he emptied the container into the pot on the burner. He smirked at his roomie and leaned against the counter. "Where were you all last week?"
Melaka shrugged, as best she could, being a hot dog with boots and all. "Out and about. Playin' 'hide and seek' but without plannin' on anyone findin' me," Mel replied with a chuckle.
"... I got turned into an eight year old again." Duo replied as he stirred the chili. It wasn't long until it was steaming, heated up quick. Duo stirred it again and waited till it bubbled just once, then shut off the heat. He served two bowls and walked over to her, handing her one bowl and sitting across from her in the other couch.
Mel couldn't help but laugh. "Awww. And I missed it. Damn."
She accepted the bowl and spoon, lifting a small spoonful, bringing it to her lips and blowing on it to cool before talking a bite. It had some kick but not too bad.
"Yeah, damn shame." Duo replied, smirking as he took a bite. "Gotta say you have a knack of picking great times to take a break from all this..." The boy sighed but hid it by taking another bite. "
"Maybe I've got this internal 'bad shit about to go down' alarm. Gets me the hell outta dodge when ooky stuff happens," Mel replied before taking another bite.
"Got that.. Slayer thing going for you.. probably makes you wiggy when bad mojo goes down.. Hell, it make sense.." Duo reasoned as he polished off is bowl and set it aside.
"Not...wiggy, but I do get pain in my abdomen," Mel nodded, working on her chili some more. Wondering just what was going on in his head. Harth had told her that Duo knew about her kissing Tony. Duo hadn't flipped out at her. She wondered if he really didn't care. If so, she wasn't sure if she was fine with that or not.
He was under the impression things were finally going back to something.. Good. He noticed her expression and let his expression fall somber. "Know what? I'll have been here for.. a whole year in two weeks.."
The boy shrugged, "Yeah. It is. I... you know.. It's weird. I connect more to people here then home now." Not like there was anything good at home.. he was tryin to break them out of this trend of weird small talk. He had this gut feeling that she knew he knew that she did something she wasn't proud of or something like that.. Or something else, he didn't know.
"Weren't the people at home trying to kill you?" Mel asked, finishing off her chili and rolled out of the couch, climbing to her feet and heading to the kitchen to rinse out the bowl.
On the way back, she veered a little closer to the door of the bedroom she and Duo shared and she frowned, canting her head to the left. She moved closer to the door, turning the knob and throwing it open.
