[Thread] Meandering through my Wonderland...

Sep 17, 2008 18:38

Characters: Alice Liddell [OU], Meilin Li [AU]
Where: The Park
When: Around the time of the transformation plot.
Summary: Alice and Meilin picnic and talk.
Warnings: A bit of angst and...Alice thoughts, I guess.

It was quite impromptu, really. Alice didn't regret asking, but was rather aback by the thoughts that had visited her lately. )

It took awhile for Meilin to find Alice in the park, but not too long. At least, she hoped it hadn't been too long. She didn't know how long the girl had been there, if she had already been there when she invited the Chinese girl for food. Not that it really mattered. They had all the time in the world...

"Hey, Alice," she greeted, surveying the picnic-setting. The last person she'd had one was Yuli, a short time before he disappeared.

"Hullo," Alice replied. She had packed a picnic basket: mostly sandwiches, since Alice had little to no idea how to cook. Spearing animals and eating them in Wonderland was certainly not an option in a place like this, and she was certain Meilin would not have liked the idea of Alice finding the nearest creature and killing, skinning and eating it.

"I'm glad you came. I wanted to talk with you a little bit, if that's alright. I was wondering, Meilin, how are you faring?"

"How am I faring?" Meilin repeated the question. She shrugged as she sat down near Alice, the picnic basket between them. "I'm fine. I haven't been affected by the mis-magic this time, and I don't think any of my friends are." She paused. "At least, I don't think so. Things just...pass in this place anyway.

"I'm fine," she repeated with a sigh. "There's no reason for me not to be."

Alice raised her eyebrows. "Is that right? In that case, I should think you'd be happier. Most people dread having to deal with the craziness that encompasses this place: that it left you fine is usually a sense a relief. Yet somehow, I sense something a little sad."

Alice went into the picnic basket and pulled out a thermos containing a dark Earl Grey tea. She took a sip and smiled. "Heavenly. To think, I used to hate the idea that I would ever grow fond of tea, It seemed like such an 'old person' thing. Yet its one of the few things I like about home."

She took a sip, then turned to Meilin. "Would you mind telling me about the boy Syaoran?"
