"No kiddin'. I never seen anything like that before, everyone goin' nuts at once." Beat cast another look at the door, as if checking to see that no more crazy people were going to barrel in through the door. Closed doors weren't going to stop anyone who really wanted to get in. "What happened back there, yo? One second I'm, uh, lookin' for Phones in the middle of a huge party, and the next..."

Which was really just about as accurate description as he needed to make it, switching "watching Shiki and Joshua" for "lookin' for Phones."

Disregarding the fact that one of the things Beat said was a lie- that is, never seeing anything like that before- Joshua wrapped a hand around his chin and got to thinking. "Very weird. But something tells me that, just like the rest of the Econtra messes, it's the end result of yet another draftee screw up. Go figure." He sighed and stared blankly in deeper thought as he walked in circles, waiting for some sort of Jimmy Neutron style burst of genius to pop into his teenage Composer head, but no luck so far.

Shiki sighed and flopped into a nearby chair, watching Joshua through the hair that fluttered into her eyes. It didn't warrant being moved just now. She didn't pay Beat's excuse any mind, either. What reason did she have to distrust him? Besides, it's not like anyone knew she and Joshua had been together at the time. It was a reasonable story, in her mind.

"Why can't they just stop messing with each other? I mean, really," she hissed, disappointed and still worried about the people who hadn't gotten out. "It was such a nice night before all this..."

"Maybe someone did do somethin' to them, yo," Beat suggested, scratching his head. "Back in the game we was imprinting people, right? Maybe, uh..." Well, actually, he didn't really know what he was getting at, but he might as well run with it as long as he had something at all. "Maybe it was some kinda really strong imprinting on everyone! To make 'em start fightin', an' that's why it went all crazy."
