Bushroot wandered through the trees casually, enjoying himself chatting with them. There was one nice oak there that he had a very pleasant conversation with. You could get so much gossip being able to communicate with the plants around here.

He saw one of the humans that this place had so many of sitting under one of the trees and waved a little. He was probably one of those card players. There were certainly a lot of them, he'd noticed.

Out of the corner of his eye, Jounouchi spotted something waving at him, and he looked up to wave back, only to find himself encountering...

...a... green humanoid duck thing.

...He'd been here for two months, certainly, so he shouldn't have been surprised, but there was just something kind of... surprising about it.

(Though, he supposed, it could have been worse. It could have been one of the walking dead.)

Bushroot walked over to the blond human, noticing his surprise and trying not to laugh...noticeably. "I bet you've never seen a mutant plant duck, have you?"

Ah, so now it was a talking green humanoid duck thing. Or a "mutant plant duck", as it had called itself.

Jounouchi shook his head sheepishly. "No, can't say I ever have." He'd seen duel monster holograms that were similarly different-looking, but if Pegasus had ever made a mutant plant duck card, he'd certainly never seen it.

Fubuki had been out getting his daily dose of exercise, romping around the park to burn off some of his energy, which tended to bubble over within the confines of Econtra. He had just been contemplating whether he felt like going for a swim, when he noticed someone sitting under a tree not far away. He looked familiar, so Fubuki decided to do the friendly thing and amble over to say hello.

Jounouchi noticed the other person coming toward him and, while putting his cards down to the side, waved in a friendly manner. That was right - though they hadn't spoken, he'd been at the get-together everyone had had for Chronos.

"Hi," Fubuki called out, and then, with more enthusiasm, "Hey! You're Jonouchi, right? The famous duelist!"

Jounouchi laughed a little bit. "Yeah, that's me. Though, sorry, but I can't say I know your name." He was still getting used to the concept of being a celebrity ten years into the future.

Aelita had been stretching her legs when she noticed the blond sitting under the tree. She wandered over, curious as he flipped through the deck of cards in his hand.

"Hi. I don't think we've met. I'm Aelita," she greeted. She gestured to the cards, not noticing that they weren't ordinary playing cards. "Playing solitaire?"

"I'm Jounouchi," Jounouchi greeted in return. "And it's not solitaire, actually - these are Duel Monsters cards. I suppose if you tried, you could figure out how to build a deck that you could play solitaire with, but Duel Monsters is more of a multi-player game."

"Nice to meet you. And Duel Monsters?" she asked.

She'd never heard of the game. It was probably one of those things unique to a different Earth than the one she came from.

"It's a trading card game from where I come from," Jounouchi explained, holding up a few of the cards so that Aelita could see them. "Two players build decks of monsters, traps, and spells, and they use them to attempt to decrease the other player's life points to zero. It's getting rather popular where I come from - I was in the middle of a tournament, before I got here."

Even if she seemed to have a roomate, her assigned room had seemed empty; and there she was, taking hesitant steps into what seemed like the less eerie part of this so-called ''compound''.
Rei looked around, trying to notice any foreign presence that could help her....or be a menace to her; and that blonde looking about her age didn't look threatening at all, so she decided to give it a go.
''Um, hi'', she tried with a smile. ''I'm...how to say, a little lost, and I wondered if you could help me out a little''. Her tone was thankfully calm, even if she was really as lost as she said, despite her newly clarified knowledge about that place.

Upon hearing the question addressed to him, Jounouchi looked up at the other person and replied, "Sure, I can help you out. Where do you need to go?" After all, he knew his way around the compound pretty well, even if he mostly stayed in a few specific areas most of the time.

Glad to hear the offer, she aprroached him a little. ''Oh, I just need to get some things sorted out about this place. You know, this whole ''just arrived'' thing.'' She hoped he'd understand; he did did seem like one of those who arrived a while ago.
''Do you know a place where it is heavily crowded around here?''; a place she could seek right now to meet people like her, and avoid in her usual attitude.

After thinking for a moment, Jounouchi offered, "Well, a lot of people tend to stay in the apartments a lot of the time. Of course, some people wander through the park or the various stores." But then, he wasn't the best person to ask this question, seeing as he mostly went between the apartments and the park, really.
