The heat had gotten to her, though, and when she chanced across Mercury in the park, the goddess was sopping wet, hair scraggly from not being dried yet and twigs sticking at odd angles out of her hair. The lake had seemed so refreshing and she couldn't help but jump into it once. Then twice. Then a third time, happily paddling around it for a good hour or so. It was great fun and kept her cool, but it wasn't like she minded the heat much -- the warmer it was, the more vibrant she seemed, that easily reflecting in her personality.
"Hey! What'cha' doing~?" Persephone asked in greeting, meandering over with a trail of wet grass and soggy looking dandelions following after her.

Next to Mercury sat several bottles, a small array of colors and smells. The blue-haired girl licked at her slushie after pulling it back from Persephone's inspection.
"Want one?" Another impish smile.

"Sure! What is it?" The goddess asked, plopping down next to Mercury on the grass with a small thud, more dandelions and a couple of daisies springing from the ground around her, faces turned towards her companion in a pantomime of curiosity.

The water senshi didn't even wave a hand, but another paper cup was already filled with crushed ice. Her mouth twisted in another wry smirk. Really, this was a sign of what Econtra brought people to.
She was reaching for the bottles beside her when she finally thought to ask, "What sort of taste? There are cherry, strawberry, blueberry, lime, apple, orange, and mango."

He wasn't expecting this.
"Are those -- sno-cones?" he asked, hardly believing his eyes.

She'd spoken almost automatically, that slight mischievous tone second nature to her by now. Mercury then looked at the boy who'd approached. He seemed about her own age, maybe a little older. It was unusual, but not incredibly so, to find people that young here. Or was he another one of those people whose ages were far more vast than they appeared?
The blue-haired girl (it seemed to match her hair, of course, and the strange short-skirted uniform she wore) was already reaching for an empty one of the cups.

He studied the girl thoughtfully. They'd never spoken, he was sure of that, but there was something --
"We've talked over the journal network," he said after a moment's thought. "You asked me what I thought of this place ... Mercury, right?"
Reply
"You should be more polite, and introduce yourself." The chiding was mild, ironical, almost teasing. A gloved hand held out the empty cup, and abruptly it was filled with well-crushed ice. The corner of the girl's mouth lifted in a self-deprecatory half-smirk. What a waste of energy, she'd have been reprimanded in her world. Here, it was simply something to pass the time and cool down from the heat.
"What sort of flavor?"

He walked over towards the lake and caught sight of a very blue-haired girl playing around with--ice? That looked interesting.
The ex-thief headed towards her idly, his hands in his pockets and his gaze dancing around with much amusement at his surroundings.

"Good afternoon!" the blue-haired girl greeted with a faintly ironical tone. She dipped her head to take another taste of her frozen treat.

It was obvious, but he asked anyway. "What'cha doin'?"
Reply
"Snow cones!" she pronounced cheerfully. Then, slyly, "Want one?"
Mercury took another taste of her own before the newcomer answered, glancing sidelong at the array of flavorings beside her. Cherry, strawberry, blueberry, lime, apple, orange, and even mango. Her current blueberry one tasted sharp on her tongue; perhaps it was the cold of the ice. Strangely, she didn't seem to have brought any more ice with her, only the syrup.

"Snow cone?" she offered impishly. The blue-haired girl held out a cup, which filled itself, so it seemed, with perfectly suited crushed ice. She nodded towards the ground near her, where bottles of syrups sat: cherry, strawberry, blueberry, lime, apple, orange, and mango.
It had been awhile. Mercury shifted slightly to make room for the arrival.

"So, how have you been?" She asked.
Reply
"It's a quiet time!" she said lightly. "So I thought I'd take care of this heat a little bit." Japan had hotter summers than...wherever this was, but it was warm enough for her tastes.
"But the one who should be asking that is me. Still worried about Belldandy?"
