As usual, Persephone was out at the park. Since the end of the transformations, there had hardly been any other place that she could be found at, preferring to be in the company of the sun and her flowers.

The heat had gotten to her, though, and when she chanced across Mercury in the park, the goddess was sopping wet, hair scraggly from not being dried yet and twigs sticking at odd angles out of her hair. The lake had seemed so refreshing and she couldn't help but jump into it once. Then twice. Then a third time, happily paddling around it for a good hour or so. It was great fun and kept her cool, but it wasn't like she minded the heat much -- the warmer it was, the more vibrant she seemed, that easily reflecting in her personality.

"Hey! What'cha' doing~?" Persephone asked in greeting, meandering over with a trail of wet grass and soggy looking dandelions following after her.

"Nothing at all!" Mercury answered pertly. She grinned, and tilted her cup so that the ice was clearly visible. Even colored, it should be obvious what it was. The scent of the flavoring hinted at its taste.

Next to Mercury sat several bottles, a small array of colors and smells. The blue-haired girl licked at her slushie after pulling it back from Persephone's inspection.

"Want one?" Another impish smile.

Persephone leaned forward on the tips of her toes in order to get a good look at the snow cone, baffled by it. It was made of ice and... blue. But as weird as it looked, why not try one? You only lived once -- even if that once was a very long time indeed.

"Sure! What is it?" The goddess asked, plopping down next to Mercury on the grass with a small thud, more dandelions and a couple of daisies springing from the ground around her, faces turned towards her companion in a pantomime of curiosity.

"They call it a snow cone. Usually it's wrapped in paper shaped like a cone; that's where the name comes from," Mercury explained. "It's a good cold treat for a hot day."

The water senshi didn't even wave a hand, but another paper cup was already filled with crushed ice. Her mouth twisted in another wry smirk. Really, this was a sign of what Econtra brought people to.

She was reaching for the bottles beside her when she finally thought to ask, "What sort of taste? There are cherry, strawberry, blueberry, lime, apple, orange, and mango."

Between apologising, fussing over his friends who all seemed determined to neglect their injuries in favour of feeling guilty and just trying to catch up with everything he'd missed, Robin was in need of some downtime. He'd chosen the park, hoping (despite all experience to the contrary) that he might find a ball game in progress or someone looking for a training partner.

He wasn't expecting this.

"Are those -- sno-cones?" he asked, hardly believing his eyes.

"Not at all!" came the immediate cheerful rejoiner. "It's sno-cone syrup." An impish grin. "Want a snow cone?"

She'd spoken almost automatically, that slight mischievous tone second nature to her by now. Mercury then looked at the boy who'd approached. He seemed about her own age, maybe a little older. It was unusual, but not incredibly so, to find people that young here. Or was he another one of those people whose ages were far more vast than they appeared?

The blue-haired girl (it seemed to match her hair, of course, and the strange short-skirted uniform she wore) was already reaching for an empty one of the cups.

"If you're offering," Robin said with an answering grin.

He studied the girl thoughtfully. They'd never spoken, he was sure of that, but there was something --

"We've talked over the journal network," he said after a moment's thought. "You asked me what I thought of this place ... Mercury, right?"

She bowed her head slightly in acknowledgment of the identity. Was he someone she was meant to know, then? Disturbing, the thought she had somehow overlooked somebody. She glanced slightly away as she tried to recall. No, nothing was coming to mind. Mercury was sure they hadn't met face to face. As to whether they'd spoken, there were many people she'd spoken to and hadn't met; it didn't help her to narrow down the possibilities.

"You should be more polite, and introduce yourself." The chiding was mild, ironical, almost teasing. A gloved hand held out the empty cup, and abruptly it was filled with well-crushed ice. The corner of the girl's mouth lifted in a self-deprecatory half-smirk. What a waste of energy, she'd have been reprimanded in her world. Here, it was simply something to pass the time and cool down from the heat.

"What sort of flavor?"

Harry had nothing better to do than wander around aimlessly through the park. He had done a whole lot of nothing but try to settle into his new dorm and avoid as much of the insanity as possible for what few days he'd been here so far. A week later and he thought maybe he'd get some fresh air. Or was that two weeks now?

He walked over towards the lake and caught sight of a very blue-haired girl playing around with--ice? That looked interesting.

The ex-thief headed towards her idly, his hands in his pockets and his gaze dancing around with much amusement at his surroundings.

Someone else was approaching. She felt a brief amusement of her own. How easy it was here, to change everything from what her life had been in her world. Mercury tilted her head slightly as she considered the man. Average appearance and age, clothing she considered normal for the era of her current lifespan in the human world of her own reality.

"Good afternoon!" the blue-haired girl greeted with a faintly ironical tone. She dipped her head to take another taste of her frozen treat.

Harry released one hand from his pocket to give a small wave in her direction. He stopped a few feet away from her and stuck his hand back in his pocket as he gazed down at her. "Hey," he said. He could now see what exactly the ice was for, and he smiled a bit as childhood memories fluttered to mind.

It was obvious, but he asked anyway. "What'cha doin'?"

The blue-haired girl glanced up at the new arrival now that he was close enough to take better notice of.

"Snow cones!" she pronounced cheerfully. Then, slyly, "Want one?"

Mercury took another taste of her own before the newcomer answered, glancing sidelong at the array of flavorings beside her. Cherry, strawberry, blueberry, lime, apple, orange, and even mango. Her current blueberry one tasted sharp on her tongue; perhaps it was the cold of the ice. Strangely, she didn't seem to have brought any more ice with her, only the syrup.

"Mind if I sit next to you?" Skuld asked from behind Mercury, having spotted the water senshi after doing more work on the calculations. It'd been a while since they were able to get together and she was kind of missing hanging out with her friend.

Mercury recognized the speaker before she saw her. That was normal in Econtra where it was far more common to hear a voice than see the person behind it.

"Snow cone?" she offered impishly. The blue-haired girl held out a cup, which filled itself, so it seemed, with perfectly suited crushed ice. She nodded towards the ground near her, where bottles of syrups sat: cherry, strawberry, blueberry, lime, apple, orange, and mango.

It had been awhile. Mercury shifted slightly to make room for the arrival.

"Thanks." Skuld said, taking the snow cone and sitting down next to Mercury, mixing a variety of the flavors on the snow cone before she started to eat it.

"So, how have you been?" She asked.

She was right; it had been Skuld. Mercury grinned, inwardly pleased with herself and perhaps by the encounter.

"It's a quiet time!" she said lightly. "So I thought I'd take care of this heat a little bit." Japan had hotter summers than...wherever this was, but it was warm enough for her tastes.

"But the one who should be asking that is me. Still worried about Belldandy?"
