The Shinrabanshou was, as usual, extremely bored. So it went fishing for thoughts. After a few overly boring thoughts, it found a good one. Now... Where was that thought coming from... Oh, lovely, the bridge at the park. Its favorite place too...

It hurried to the location to find the suit of armor walking around. It floated out onto the water and looked up at the figure from the very edge of the bridge. "Having trouble, are we?"

Chief's head snapped towards the sound of the voice instantaneously. Good, he thought to himself. At least some things are still under my control. On the other hand, the Spartan had the discomforting feeling that part of that was simply because whatever it was in his suit had also wanted it as well.

The armor continued to walk a bit without Chief's implicit control. It made one circle around the bridge, almost as if debating on what it wanted to do, before finishing the loop right back where it had started--in front of the floating person. Then it halted.

The Chief had no clue how long this would last. He took advantage of what little time he might have. First off... that question. He tried not to think about why the question was asked so much as just getting it answered... for now. "Yes. I seem to be having difficulty with my suit. It's... possessed." He said the last word with an utter quiet deadpan.

Possessed. That was amusing. A possessed suit of armor. It took a lot of control to not burst out laughing right then and there. "Ehhh!? Really? That's... that's... so..." It couldn't help itself any longer and started laughing. "That's so funny! A possessed suit of armor! Ahahaha! Now I don't get to be bored anymore!"

John's face beneath the helmet was a deadly glare indeed. He didn't need this. He was having enough trouble trying to figure out what sort of program his armor downloaded to corrupt his system this badly--much less why it started such a random download! It shouldn't--this shouldn't--

"Enough." John commanded, speaking as though he were talking to a group of unruly marines. He wasn't sure if he were talking to his possessed armor or to the floating man, but one thing was certain: he meant it.

This was supposed to be a war zone, right? So why did Jounouchi feel as though this was the calmest his life had been in the last month? Compared to everything with the fire at the Black Crown, Shizuka's surgery, and all of the stuff that had happened in the tournament, it had seemed as though there had been little time to catch one's breath. Especially during the tournament itself ( ... )

The green helmeted head swiveled in Jounouchi's direction at sound of the comment. The armor continued to walk by, although it did seem to slow down, perhaps in curiosity. John considered his options and decided this was as good an opportunity as any other. He would just have to trust this person--for better or worse.

"The suit is like a second skin," John replied as his armor slowed even further, as if listening intently to the Spartan's words. He blinked, but didn't have the time to think about that right now. He continued instead. "But I'm currently having... problems." One could almost hear the grimace in his voice. "I could use a bit of help."

"What do you need?" Jounouchi asked, standing up from where he had been sitting. He didn't know this person, but that wasn't going to stop him from helping him if he needed it. He seemed nice enough, and Jounouchi was in a fairly good, if pensive, mood today.

John's armor rounded on the boy as soon as he stood. One arm came up as if to ward off any advance Jou might make. John gritted his teeth in frustration. He didn't want to scare the boy off! He tried to will his arm back down, and although his muscles strained, John knew he was more likely to break his own bones from the force of his own strength before he could will his armor down against its will.

After a moment of this tense position, of the stoic armor standing completely and utterly still despite John's desire, nothing seemed forthright to happen. John let it slide, let his muscles relax and just stay where they were. He wasn't happy.

"It's my armor," he replied in a deadpan. His voice revealed nothing of his inner frustration and feelings. It was it's usual slightly mechanized monotone. "It has downloaded... something... and is malfunctioning. I cannot control it."

Persephone had spent the entire day out in the park, just sitting and napping under a tree, enjoying the sunlight and healing. She had absolutely no intentions of returning to the apartments tonight, no matter how odd it was for someone to be sleeping outside without the aid of a tent or other mortal knick-knacks. A goddess had no need for such things ( ... )

John had heard that one before. Monster. As if he and his Spartans were some otherworldly beings that stalked their prey relentlessly and emotionlessly. Perhaps part of that were true--Spartans did 'hunt' Covenants forces down relentlessly and without much thought beyond tactics--but they were still human. Only enhanced warriors for their honor-bound duty.

The Chief's helmeted head swiveled slightly in the direction of the girl. He was beginning to see a pattern here. Whatever it was, it was curious.

John tried nodded his head in acknowledgment, but the entity, whatever it was, didn't seemed inclined to allow him even that simple move. His mechanized voice called out in reply instead. "Ma'am."

Okay. Now that voice? That voice was creepy and it was enough to send shivers down Persephone's spine, but at least it wasn't attacking. Or eating peasants. Or something. You know, typical monster type things. Although the 'ma'am' wouldn't do, not at all. If there was anything that Persephone wasn't, it was a 'ma'am.'

"A simple 'your highness' will suffice, thank you," the girl called with bravado from the safety of her tree. At least it was safe for now, unless the monster decided to go on a rampage, which she dearly hoped wouldn't happen.

The armor finally came to a hesitant stop as it neared the tree. It seemed inclined to wander farther, but an odd sense of curiosity kept it in place. John took the time to let his eyes wander over his newest companion. She was obviously no sort of fighter, and he blinked once at the odd title she requested he call her.

"Yes, ma--your highness," John replied with an odd note to his voice. He decided then and there he would at all costs avoid ever using that title ever again. He didn't like it.

"May I ask your name?"
