[MODPLOT; WAR GAMES] STAGE 1

Jan 12, 2009 12:24

It had been a stalemate for quite some time now, an invisible tug of war back and forth, between two sides of the same coin. The Keepers and the Indigeo. Entropi against Entropi. Parents against child.

INDIGEO SUBSET INDEX.
The Keepers had taken their child's guardian, the man they appointed Warden. Despite carrying out their instructions for handling the compound and the drafted people inside of it, the Warden was frequently insubordinate. Humans were complicated creatures. But the Keepers had let the minor recalcitrance go with only minimal punishments, until they discovered that he had not only been tainting the Drafted's perception, but the Indigeo's as well.

INDEX RESTRICT WARDEN.
The Indigeo would no longer listen to them. The collectively spawned prodigy of their resistance, the one keyed to the Consulo... was no longer taking orders. It only obeyed the Warden. No, it only wanted to obey the Warden. Completely defying the usual sense of order of the Entropi. Perhaps Entropi were complicated creatures as well.

But removing the Warden had not solved the problem, for the Indigeo did not submit once more to their commands. Instead it had taken hostage the compound itself, substituting itself into the place the Warden had habitually held.

INDIGEO PLAY HABITAT.
And thus forcing the stalemate; the Keepers unable to harm the Warden without the Indigeo turning the retribution against the compound, and vice versa. The deadlock went on so long that the Indigeo even resumed requisitions. All in hopes of being able to communicate with the Drafted.

HABITAT FREQUENCY ENROLL INDIGEO.
But it had not succeeded, and the Keepers were not infinitely patient. They judged that the Indigeo's hope -- a human concept, a taint no doubt imparted by the Warden -- would not be perpetual either. And so they bided their time until they saw the Drafted's morale at its lowest, their conglomerate at its most weakened point. Internal strife, dissension, chaos. The Indigeo had noted it as well, marked by the occasional transmissions of static like unhappy bleats whenever something new was posted. It was unhappy, and it had so few options left.

RESTRICT FREQUENCY NO RESET.
The Keepers made their move.

His usefulness exhausted, the Keepers relinquish their custody of their intermediary, the Warden. He is disposed of inside the walls of the compound, left in the plaza for all to see. Form battered, excessively burned with traces of ash in the wounds, implicating the Keepers' own strikes as the source. Some injuries are partially healed; has he been subjected to this for an extended period of time? No attempt to wake him succeeds, and he is left to the will of the residents to do with as they please.

At the same time, the Keepers circling the compound engage in an ambush to capture the Indigeo -- but their progeny is clever and has the inspiration of youth, and for the moment eludes them. What must seem like a bizarre and deadly game of Entropi tag ensues as the energy orbs swoop in and out of the compound at fantastic speeds, through buildings and walls as though they are nothing, ignoring the residents completely.

However such massive power will always have collateral damage, and offshoot bolts may indeed injure anyone who gets too close, or simply happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is a game of chance, but the residents have losing odds.

It goes on and on and on, until suddenly... nothing.

No lights in the sky.

[OOC: Different thread lines for different areas of the compound, same as last time. The Entropi are literally careening through the compound at top speed, not caring what gets in their way. Questions please direct to the OOC post. Have fun.]
