So, one of those things I've been hating for the past year and a half is my completely honest answers on job applications regarding my lack of experience / training / education in certain areas, most specifically GIS, even though I have actually picked up quite a few tidbits about how these technologies / procedures are used and performed. The Army Corps of Engineers has an amazing and long source of manuals and basically books on so many subjects! I love that site!

I know! When I stumbled on the site, all I could think was "How did I not know about this...or think to look for it earlier!"

I hope it helps! It can be so hard to fill out those applications - I mean sometimes the "honest" answer doesn't adequately represent you. Are these applications that get computer scanned and scored?

Oh, I meant who does the scoring is it a person or a computer program? Sometimes HR actually looks at stuff and some places the first cut is done all by a computer program that scores the application and scans cover letters for cue words. Automation at its most infuriating.

The first cut scoring is done by computer. I get a lot of "Qualified - Not referred" responses 'cuz my score on the self assessment is lower than the cut off.
