so i've started taking Tai Chi at the
Enso Center with the Family*. we're not very good about going, but we are busy people with Gwen running off for business trips once in a while, which makes organizing the rest of us difficult. in theory, Zoe should be able to play in the little play area by the mats while the Entourage** practices / learns

oddly, i found that it complemented my TKD... possibly because i was thinking of the Tai Chi as a martial art (whereas most people who do it, do it for excercise/meditation etc)... also i found that the movements were more "natural" to me... if i were to be sudenly surprised and end up in a defensive stance, blocking... my blocks end up more "wavy and flowy" instead of the traditioanal TKD style....
If you combine the two, you may also find that instead of blocking and attack (or even breaking out of a hold), you may end up just "flowing" away and turning the attacker aside, Tai Chi style...
...um.. or am i getting *waay* too analytical? lol
oh, and yes... its a good job that my TKD instrtuctor was also my Tai Chi instructor cos i could automatically reply with "yes, sensei" :D
Hope you enjoy it all and im sure the achey stuff will go in time!

you're absolutely right and not being too analytical at all; the two arts complement each other very well. i think my Tai Chi instructor's wife teaches the TKD class, though, while he teaches the Hapkido class. not that they don't have black belts and teaching credentials in all three arts (plus some). but even his students from Hapkido who are also in Tai Chi don't seem to call him "sir" or anything. beats me. : )
