i just finished watching the film, which i started before midnight. i watched it with the commentary by Pennebaker and Visconti, which is kinda boring yet insightful at the same time. they share some nice anecdotes, right down to the rolling of the credits.
how crazy is that? it was interesting to hear Visconti admit how much overdubbing/studio gimmickry went into the soundtrack. lots of backing vocals, keyboards, and guitars were rerecorded in the studio. i always wished the extra musicians on stage had more of a visual presence. you only see glimpses of Mike Garson towards the end, and the others during All The Young Dudes.
ever notice the lack of backing vocals on the DVD versus the CD?
