That long title up there disguises what is basically another highly stupid list. The kind of list that dumbassed, uninformed rock critics want generalize ridiculously and demonstrate they don't know fuck all about music. Well, I made one of those.

i am sorry, but i feel like one can't talk about essential, ground-breaking indie albums without mentioning Belle & Sebastian. Either "tigermilk" or "if you're feeling sinister."

Those albums came out in the 90's. I don't love Belle & Sebastian anyway; one might think they'd be up my alley but no dice.

Maybe it's just because of my animosity from seeing Stevie Jackson live this one time. I was at a free show last year where mostly unknown acts recreated the setlist of Bob Dylan's "Royal Albert Hall" show (the "Judas" one). I was pretty much only there to see Jason Isbell, but that guy came out (just him and his guitar) and did the most horrendous rendition of "Visions of Johanna" of all time. It was like a drunken hobo doing a bad Dylan parody. Luckily Isbell was on right after him to do a stunning rendition of It's All Over Now, so that was cool.

But, yeah, that kind of put me off them for a while.
