It's interesting to me that the A&R man is "Artist & Relationships" in the broader pop world, but in Nashville, where the Brill Building-style machine is the norm A&R is known by it's old name "Artists & Repertorie".

Also, Avril Levigne has really come into her own as a songwriter. Witness "Since you've been gone" by Kelly Clarkson. Decent tune.

I was given to understand that you are also correct, and that the LA and NYC based A&R folks are "artist and relationships" and it was only Nashville that still used the older term.
