Why I Love Livejournal!

Jan 13, 2012 15:33

All right, f-list!

As you know, a lot of people are jumping ship for dreamwidth and tumblr and I'm going to put my foot down and discuss why you should stay! I use my livejournal for several things. I think the best art and graphics in the world can be found through graphic maker comms. I think livejournal also attract writers, and I mesh well with ( Read more... )

I use my tumblr for just quotes and occasionally a photograph. And maybe a rant or two about random stuff.

I got a Dreamwidth account solely because I heard livejournal is about to change everything and just in case I didn't like anything they did (because the internet frustrates me very easily.) I also got it because a lot of my favorite graphic community owners and writers are moving there and I really don't want to miss their stuff. (:

YEAH BUT WHY CAN'T IT ALL BE IN THE SAME PLACE

q_q

cuz you know what's going to happen? DW will make the same exact changes! It's gonna happen! People are so anti-change it doesn't make sense.

*laughs* I could very well put everything here, but I'd feel guilty crowding my Flist up.

What I'll more than likely do is just keep using tumblr for quotes/photos and my dreamwidth account (which has nothing on it at the moment) will remain empty with just me commenting.

I'm not anti-change. But I heard from people here that the livejournal changes would be major. I guess you could say I got scared. Which thinking about that now... sounds really silly.

What kind of change could make people leave? I don't their so stupid as to accidentally drop their database and lose all our posts or anything. I don't think layouts will change either. If anything does change, it might be profile pages, the eljay search area, and stuff pertaining to the default navigation header. All of which looks really out-dated as it is!

I understand. I am still using Livejournal as well.

Although I do use Tumblr (much) more often for the gifs and anything Lace reblogs.

Tumblr got pretty addicting for me too, but I didn't like it because in the end, it felt like I didn't get much out of it. It's a really passive place, you know, but doesn't give me that feeling of being productive like other internet time kills. Even though it's just a feeling. I keep a tumblr account too, but I follow next to nothing and only post poetry I find around and want to store, lol. Tumblr's all right, but I find news and politics so much more interesting and engaging. It's hard in the states to be informed. At least by the television. You could watch the news all day and not have a clue to what's really going on in the world besides vague rambles of politicians about the deficit or updates on the latest murder scandel. American TV is SUPER petty, and yeah, I would be dissappointed in myself if I didn't know what was really going on.

i've a tumblr too, and i use it mainly to store quotes and nice pictures, and occasionally laugh at the crude memes they have there. (some of them are actually funny)

in the end, though, i do think that lj still has the better/ more intelligent crowd. maybe it's just the people i'm following, but most of the girls on tumblr are pretty hypocritical and superficial people.

It's because people don't write much on tumblr. I'm thankful for tumblr for a lot of things like, oooh, connecting a whole bunch of kpop fans the night of the mtv EMAs. But It doesn't attract writers. It's soo visual. Nearly everything is photography, art, gifs, and yeah it's great for numbing yourself with pretty things, but I like eljay so much more.

Admittedly...I went to Dreamwidth to make a fresh start on fandom. Though, it's for fandoms such as Index and Fate/Stay Night and Type-Moon and other visual and light novels. ^^; I guess it's just that I got tired of KHR's incredibly bad storytelling.

But...other than that, I will stay on here, just at least to see what happens if the changes are not that bad, though...I guess I won't hang on here as often as I would go on Dreamwidth because of the fandom change. ^^;; Then again...I don't have many friends in those fandoms to begin with outside of a certain circle. O.o

It's just annoying that you either switch, or check two blogs that are EXACTLY the same. Dreamwidth. Why does it even exist? How can something even exist that so mirrors livejournal? It's wierd, makes no sense, and is dumb. It's like, all of a sudden, another facebook or tumblr is around.

Why isn't this wierd??

The thing is that I kinda...prefer a bit of quiet in ways. ^^; Livejournal has a huge populus, in my opinion, and that is what makes it so nice as a community of many people. Dreamwidth, on the other hand...I see that place as a one-on-one place where I can talk to one or a few people without having to deal with the larger crowds. Not to mention...I've been spammed very often lately by someone and I don't know who it is, but said person has been spamming my public LJ posts.

Though, you're right about it being very close to Livejournal. I am a bit unsure about Dreamwidth being very unique. ^^;

EHH someone's spamming you? You can probably configure it fixed in your account settings?

Yeah, eljay has a huge populus, but if I want to be one-on-one, that's when I go to instant messenger.

Good luck with getting the spamming fixed. Though, YOU are right about the downfall of khr fanfiction, I've found other things in eljay to like. I don't even watch the reborn comm! Haha, I'm hear now mainly for the friendly people like you, and for graphics comms, my news feed, and my creative writing storage comm.

I don't even have a tumblr, so I don't really have any room to talk, but I still think this website's so much better. It seriously is. I love LiveJournal, and FanFiction, and YouTube, though not so much anymore, but still. Tumblr is such a...dismal looking site in my opinion. And your piece about LiveJournal attracting writers is totally true. I'm a writer myself, and once I found it, I immediately created an account. This site is so amazing! (I sound so chipper...Sorry about the random post...)

YOU FEEL ME THEN! Yeah, livejournal is one beautiful place! Tumblr is really drab and way too fast-paced. I think livejournal is far more personal and you really get to know the people you friend. Tumblr is really anonymous and you never meet the people you 'follow.' In the end, it's blatent stalking haha. You don't ever intend to get to know the people you follow. When did you first come to livejournal?

I've seen some of the Tumblr pages, and they're kinda boring and plain. I mean, that may be the goal of the site to be plain and simple, but I kind of like how LiveJournal is more personal and how you can change your layouts and backgrounds and stuff to reflect more of who you are as a person. In terms of personality, you do get to know the people you friend through their choice in layouts and icons and such, not just what they write. Tumblr is just pictures, and pictures can only tell you so much about a person and who and how they are. I'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense. I was daydreaming about Hibari and Chrome again...I first came to LiveJournal about a year ago, but I used an old account named 'xcrimsonblossom'. I deleted that one, and made like, three other ones, but deleted those too, and finally created this one. I started fresh on all of my sites (FF.Net, YT, LJ), and named all of my accounts 'seireeii'. I guess I just wanted a fresh start. Man, this response is pretty long...Sorry about that.
