This... is research for a fic, basically. I think I'm already pretty set on where I want to go with it, but I'm curious what you all think.

Poll ianto jones is a hero

ianto jones is a hero, public, writing, heroes, torchwood

*snicker*
You read my mind.
As long as Ianto is in a thong, however. He *must* wear a thong. It's for the Greater Good.

I chose other because I was torn between the telepathy and the empathy. I find superheroes who use brainwaves (that and the bad guys too) are significantly cooler. When it's a brain related trait, it's far more awesome than a physical trait imo.

Time travel and cellular regeneration are cool and useful too, but easily get turned into crutches (see deus ex machina: Jack's immortality), and I love the fact that Ianto is often known for his sneaky deception. The telepathy would top the cake! And would still provide the risks and dangers should he lose control of that power.

Sorry that I wrote you a small essay on the matter.

I'm really glad no one's chosen the cellular regeneration so far, because it would be too much like Jack. And the time travel would be cool, but then that'd feel almost too much like the Doctor.

I do like the mental abilities, and I've been pretty much set on telepathy. But going into the Heroes 'verse, there's a lot of interesting abilities; the telepathy, the empathic mimicry, there's preconition, intuitive aptitude, etc. Actually, a physical ability I was contemplating is telekinesis. I suppose it depends on exactly where I want to go with this fic.

There's also eidect memory, but I feel like Ianto has that already. Or, at least it's fanon he does. I don't think it's ever been stated in canon, but it would explain a hell of a lot.

Right! Fanon does tend towards believing that he has an eidetic memory, but that's not really a superhuman power since it happens to humans at a rather steady statistical rate.

I haven't seen Heroes, but I have read a few stories where Ianto's shown signs of empathic mimicry. Otherwise fanon dictates that Ianto is only telepathic with Jack (which makes my stomach squirm :( ). This makes me very interested in your story, especially since you seem to want to develop something that is Ianto's exclusively.

plz rite

I am crap with spelling, just so you know, LOL. Anyway.

The fic is this Sylar/Ianto idea that's been tinkering around in my head for months and months, now. Since you don't watch Heroes, basically, Sylar is an incredibly layered, incredibly awesome villian. My goal for this fic is to draw out Ianto's dark side, which I am SO EXCITED to write, haha.

It seems to me that after all the Cyberwomany angst, Ianto would be the one who could control metal or machines.

Like technopathy? I had thought of that, too. But I almost feel that would be an ability more of Toshiko's.

Not so much technopathy as telekenisis (sp?) specifically catered to metal (like Magneto)

Tosh would definitely be the computer-whisperer, that's for sure!

Or, you know, he could have one of those absorbing powers, ala Peter Petrelli, only maybe he only can do it through kissing *LOL

I know it's not as scary and cool as Sylar, but still...okay, just being silly now!

I'd say something like Monica's power - he is able to do something once he's seen it done before. I mean, how else would he be able to make such damn fine coffee?!
Please tell me when you've written it. I'd LOVE to know what direction you take it in :D
