[There was an accidental video earlier that showed Lamb fetching a poster from the closet and sticking it to the outside of her door. The video was very short, so you possibly didn't even see it, though the poster might catch your eye the next time you're in the area ( Read more... )

[And here comes project WYK himself, here to pay Dr. Lamb a visit. He's not here for grief counseling, or at least doesn't know if he is--he wants answers.

He knocks at the door, a well-built young man in a cream-colored sweater with a wrench in the back of his belt. As he does it, he looks around to be sure one of Sinclair's golden-eyed bots isn't hovering around.]

[Sofia opens the door with a smile that instantly falters when she sees Jack. She honestly didn't expect him to call again, let alone show himself anytime soon.

She knows the project Jack inside out, but the person Jack is a different matter entirely.]

Jack. I must say, I'm surprised. I didn't expect to see you again so soon.

[There, perfectly honest as always! Her smile returns, she steps aside and motions for Jack to come in.]

Please, come in. Make yourself at home.

[He steps in, though he doesn't make himself at home. He stands still a moment, just inside the room, eyes shifting--he's checking for exits, possible hazards, a habit of his that he just can't seem to shake. Finally, apparently satisfied, he steps a little further in.

Dr. Lamb.

[He returns the greeting awkwardly, and then simply looks at her, a little unsure of what to say or do next.]

[After allowing a pause in which she asserts that she is not immediately going to be assaulted with that wrench in his belt she steps further into the room and motions for Jack to sit down.]

Can I offer you anything? Coffee or tea perhaps?

[She walks over to the closet, but already expects Jack to decline her offer, so she continues with her next question.]

How can I help you, Jack?

[He can't resist but his voice sounds a touch condescending and irritated. The very notion of someone being family besides Ritsuka!]

Some of us do have loved ones here. Family only makes life far more complicated. Why would anyone want to add to that? You aren't family to me.

[~Unerringly friendly smile and voice~]

I apologise. I certainly did not mean to intrude; you say you already have loved ones here and I'm very glad to hear that. I also believe that because of that you, even more than others, can understand the pain one must feel without them.

You say that family is complicated. Perhaps you're right, but perhaps those complications only arise once we distinguish between those we embrace as family and those we don't. We try so hard to decide who is worthy of our love when in truth everyone we meet deserves to be loved equally.

[Seimei is willing to switch to video. The room he's in is dark, making it hard to tell where he is. Seimei's ears are just barely visible in the small amount of light from the screen. His expression is relatively flat but he raises one brow then lowers it.

Had he used the plural had he said loved ones?...Not loved one? Seimei sounds a little annoyed when but not at Lamb- at himself for such a slip of the tongue.]

No. Family is complicated on it's own. It always is and always will be. Outsiders are messy in their own fashion but it's far simpler to limit the access others have to pushing your buttons. Not everyone is worthy of love and definitely not equally.

[Lamb has spent the last several years surrounded by deformed drug addicts with animals masks; the eas don't concern her, if she even notices them in the first place.

At 'outsiders are messy' Lamb's expression unwillingly changes to say 'I hear you', but she quickly notices and wipes the look off her face.]

Complicated... pushing your buttons... if that is how you see family I suppose I should be flattered that you don't consider me part of it. [Again she smiles.]

I wonder however, what is it that makes somebody unworthy of love?

Trust me when I say that you don't want me to think of you as my family. Heh.

Oh, I see. Good thing you're here, then. I think a lot of people would want to talk to you.

So far the reception has been far from positive, but I presume I must have sounded too intrusive. The definitions of love and family and quite different where I come from and I forgot to take this into account. Naturally my offer will remain standing for everyone who does wish to see or talk to me.

You sound like the cult leaders I've read about. You're nothing like Katsuko-sensei and you're not my family.

Oh? I would be flattered that you deem me so capable of leading, but you sound like the things you've read are not worthy of praise.

Katsuko-sensei? Who would that be?
