Actually, kind of, yeah. My most vivid memory of them is from a road trip my family took down in Colorado. They buzzed for miles. It was beautiful.

Next year... I think "seventeen years" is a bit of an exaggeration on the part of some romantic scientist. I remember calling them "seven year cicadas" growing up for that reason.

Interestingly enough, next summer I will have lived in this area for 17 years.

that makes so much sense. There are a lot more of them in Ohio this summer than the past few years and the last time there were a lot were the first couple years after I moved to Ohio, 17 years ago.
