You, know, you are about to have an infant on your hands, and the last thing you will be thinking about are the damn drawer pulls. Perhaps it allows your mother to have some control over things.

All of this stress over minutiae hearkens back to ye ole wedding planning days. Only after a wedding everyone goes "whew! glad that's over, it was fun though, yeah?" And then you move ON with your LIFE. This time, after the baby's room is finished and the baby is actually HERE, it's like "Holy Crap!!! We have a BABY! He just got poo on the drawer pulls! And he hates to sleep in his big hand-made crib! What the hell!" And then mom will be able to swoop in and give lots of good mom advice and feel useful again, and I'll be an emotional, hormonal mess. Did I mention that my husband is in Peru and I'm 8 months pregnant?
