The Boy Next Door
Long silken hair and a face carved by angels, only two of the many features that made up this being. There was only one word to describe it, beautiful. Beautiful and very unbelievably male. It was unfair to her that the demon that stood before her was much more beautiful than any supermodel woman was that she seen on television and still look very masculine at the same time. She just couldn’t believe that this was what her best friend has become.
“Hello Keggy, It sure has been a long time hasn’t it?” The deep velvet voice that came from him was also proof at how much of a male that he became.
“Sesshomaru, wow, I uh…I…um…hey?” She stuttered nervously while placing a hand behind her neck.
She didn’t even recognize him at first. When she opened the door, she just stood there absentmindedly ogling him with her mouth wide-open thinking that he was some male supermodel that had gotten lost or something. The only thing that made her realize that it was her long lost best friend was the fact that he called her by the nickname that he made up for her. It was the nickname that only he called her by and liked to tease her with because she always hated the sound of it. She didn’t even know that she was staring until he closed her mouth with his perfectly manicured clawed finger.
“Well, aren’t you going to invite me in?” He asked ever so smoothly. His face was void of emotion but his tone held his amusement at watching her check him out. She jumped and moved aside and the inu youkai stepped inside her apartment.
Kagome was still in a state of shock, this was her best friend, the boy next door. The boy that always looked sick because he was as skinny as a toothpick and deathly pale. The only color that he had was his dark blue crescent moon that adorned on his forehead, cold amber gold eyes, and maroon colored stripes on his cheeks and wrist. The boy who was at least an inch and a half shorter than she was even though his hair kept standing up. The boy that she always protected from those who would tease him although she knew that because he is a demon can fend for himself.
She looked at him once again, he was no longer skinny, he was lean with broad shoulders and perfectly sculpted torso from what she could see from the black muscle shirt, and he was still pale but his skin had a godly glow to it. He towered above her from what she could estimate a by a good foot making him at least six feet five inches. His hair, his long, silver hair shined and flowed like water as he moved. He was definitely no longer a boy.
As Kagome looked at him, she remembered when she met him. She had just turned eleven when he and his family had moved next door to her. She just had the urge to talk to him and so she did. It wasn’t easy at first, he growled at her and threatened her to stay away from him because he didn’t trust her but after while, he opened up to her. It was the start of a long friendship, which tore a bit when he graduated. He got a full scholarship to go to a school in London and soon had packed up to leave. Kagome haven’t seen or heard from Sesshomaru in five and a half years. She thought that he had forgotten about her, found some woman and got married to her or something. That was until now.
“Kagome, you may want to blink or your eyes will dry out.” She snapped out of her observation of him once again, this time by his baritone voice of his.
“I’m so sorry. I’m just…completely, utterly shocked to see you.” Kagome said snapping out of her trance.
“Well, I did just arrive back in Japan a few hours ago. I wouldn’t be a good friend if I didn’t stop by to drop by to say ‘hello.’” Sesshomaru said as he turned to her.
Kagome would have ‘awed’ at him for being so thoughtful if it wasn’t for the fact that he disappeared for almost six years. “Yea you wouldn’t be a good friend but a better friend would have kept in touch.”
She poked him in his chest with every other word she said and almost wanted to blush for thinking about how chiseled he was. Sesshomaru could barely hide the smirk that was trying to escape at her attempt to be mad with him with her eyebrows knitted together, angry eyes, and the pouty lip.
“I apologize about that but I could explain to you if you could join me for dinner.”
Kagome had once again gone into shock. Going out to dinner…with Sesshomaru. She felt her cheeks heat up knowing that the pesky blush was back on her face.
“Come on, it’ll be my treat for not keeping in touch with you.” He said as he put a small smile on his face.
She mindlessly nodded then feeling him wrap an arm around her waist, allowed him to guide her out of her apartment and outside to his waiting car.
