Today I was productive and industrious. I put all the paper that needs to be filed into boxes so that it can be easily sorted and put into the filing cabinets at a later time. I bagged up a bunch of stuff and took it to Goodwill. I turned in some old games at Gamestop. I folded and put away laundry that I'd done yesterday. I washed dishes. I ( Read more... )

If your washing machine turns out to have given up the ghost, I swear by the Sears Outlet on Morena Blvd.

But fixing things in the house always ends up in High Adventure. And adventures usually mean a lot of stress, danger, and discomfort, so yeah.

Sears Outlet is where I go to buy ALL my major appliances. :) This washer, it's accompanying dryer, and my fridge are all from there. (And the only reason my stove and dishwasher aren't is that I haven't needed to replace them.)

Turned out it was just a bad lid switch. The repair guy replaced it and everything works fine again. So maybe I'll get another 15 years of life out of the thing. (I swear, Kenmore appliances seem to be built out of frickin' Mithril or something.)
