Recent sightings on the highway between my home and my workplace:

  • A Jaguar station-wagon.

  • A Mini Cooper SUV
Would someone please tell these companies to stop making abominations? Thanks.

I don't think the Cooper is an SUV...if it's the one I've seen, it's like a Mini station wagon, with barn doors instead of a hatchback. I LOVE them. I don't drive, but if I did, I'd get one. I hate hatchbacks.

Maybe so. All I could tell was that it was Mini Cooper-shaped, but about twice as big.

I wonder if it still gets 50 miles per gallon?

Doubtful, considering the size. But it might get 30, which for an SUV ain't bad.

to BBC America, and watch any episode of TOP GEAR (the original British version - stay away from the Aussie and US evil clones). You will see FAR worse (and better - not that either of us can afford the better ones, not at 100k+ Pounds Sterling) and you will get a few laughs along the way.

As to the Jaguar station wagon .. that is just so WRONG in so many ways...

Unfortunately, I have no TV signal coming into my house, so if I'm going to watch Top Gear, I'll have to watch back episodes through Netflix.

But I'll consider it. Thanks.

I understand where you're getting at, I saw a 4-door Hummer the other day that was barely street legal in width with only one person in it.

While I'm not a big fan of the government dictating people's choices, sometimes I wonder about the wisdom of laissez-faire economics especially since we already interfere with big oil subsidies to keep gas prices artificially low.

Sigh, if I was dictator.... I'd probably screw everything up worse.

Need I say more? If you're gonna drive a Porsche, get something tiny, noisy and impractical, so you can at least have fun while the rest of us make fun of your visible insecurities ;-)

I'd heard of the Porsche Cayanne (the shape of a Mini, the size of a Hummer H3), but I hadn't heard about the Porsche 4-door sedans. Yeah, they're both just freakin' WRONG!
