LunaCon report

Mar 23, 2010 11:42

LunaCon was wonderful. Even as a GoGoH (Guest of Guest of Honor), I was treated extremely well by all and sundry. As Allison said in her post last night, I could get used to this. ;-)

One wonders how the restaurant could be so mediochre while the reception food, catered by the same hotel, was so awesome.

We have a theory... they do a lot more catering events, but they just don't have a good restaurant chef and staff that are used to cooking for restaurants.

That makes a certain amount of sense, I suppose.

Excellent con, by the bye! Good job!

There's a really good italian restaurant not that far from the hotel. It's actually one that 'relocated' from Manhattan and Laura Anne Gilman (surricatus on here) found it (she's Keith's best friend and "older sister", and a wonderful fantasy author .)

The Green Room is the Green Room at every con I've been involved with; I've never heard it called the Pro Suite. I believe the term comes out of the entertainment industry, so I would expect it to be at least as common here as elsewhere, if not more so.

That's weird. I've never heard it called the Green Room before. I know where the term "green room" comes from, but when it comes to conventions, I've always heard the term "Pro Suite" used.

Maybe it's a recent change. Most of my convention experience dates to the '90's.

I started going to cons in '99, and have, with two exceptions, only gone to driving-distance cons -- SoCal, Bay Area, AZ.

Wikipedia confirms that the term comes from theater and is used in TV/movie settings as well now, but the true origin is apparently lost to time. My HS drama teacher claimed it we because the color green is soothing, but that seems to be a retcon at best.
