Oh, man, this is lovely -- just the way I've always suspected it went. I like the idea that they were good friends at one point, before it all messily fell apart and Giygas came to town, and I definitely think Pokey's dwelt on it in the time between games. Nice stuff!

Thanks so much! It's nice to know other people enjoy my Pokey-centric ramblings, especially since the little bastard seems to have taken permanent residence in my brain.

I always wanted to believe that they'd been relatively close, because it makes what happens afterward that much worse. (Even Pokey's "Ness, you're my bestest friend" has a much nastier punch if you subscribe to the idea that they had once been best friends-- almost like Pokey's using their former friendship solely as a bargaining chip.) Pokey's appearance in Ness's Magicant is just another potential example, because I don't think he'd even be there if he hadn't had a big impact in Ness's life. That's just my take on it, of course, but it does make for some speculation.

Itoi is a master of character development. :D
