No spoilers, just an observation

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince arrived at my doorstep at noon today.

By 9:30 PM, I had finished it.

Not bad, but not as good at Book 5, in my opinion. A bit rushed, with some very odd out-of-characterness. Lots of good backstory, though.

And I can't resist mentioning that at a certain point, I was reminded strongly of a scene from The ( Read more... )

Agh!! Stupid Canada Post doesn't deliver on a Saturday (well, I guess they don't normally, but I was hoping that they'd make exceptions on HP weekend... I guess not), so I don't even have my book yet.

Hopefully by Monday *crossing fingers*...

Hmmm, I haven't heard much about it yet. Nice to know somebody actually finished it.

I always have to wait until one of my friends finishes the book so I can borrow it. I was picking them up on paperback because what I really want is all of them from the UK. But have I done that yet? Nooooo! *shakes head! I need to get my buns in gear! ;)

You know, I've heard that with each new book, there are more and more language differences between the UK and US versions. I don't think I saw one British slang word in the latest book. :-(

Have you finished reading the first 5 books? If not, I recommend reading them in order, or else the new book will totally spoil the rest for you.

Yeah I heard the same & that's one thing I'm funky about. I mean, if I'm going to read a book that takes place in England, I want it to have slang! Sheeesh! So, I did buy the first three books here, & then stopped because I wanted to get the UK versions. While I was over there a couple of years ago, I couldn't find a shop that had all the books! *grumbles! So, now I figure I'll just go to Amazon UK & get them all. It's just not right if they don't use at least SOME of the correct words! LOL! Ooo & yes, I've read the other books, all in order. I usually get to read them about a month or so after they've come out since by then people are passing them around. :) I have the first three movies, too! Can't wait until Autumn to see the next one! Have you seen the movies?

Oh, cool! For some reason I thought you hadn't finished them. I probably had you confused with someone else. :-P

Yeah, I've seen the films, but I always waited until they made it to cable. I can't WAIT to see what they do with "Goblet of Fire," though - it's probably my favorite of all the books.
