Mi semana loca

ACK! So much news to report, so little time! It's been a pretty crazy week, but I've emerged triumphant with a freshly formatted hard drive, a foot of snow in my driveway, 2 more months of employment, and an advance copy of tomorrow's Queer Eye episode.

Oh, yes, and a new niece.

You may recall that Middle Sis was due to have her first child - a girl - in April. April 29, to be exact. Everything was going just fine and dandy...until early Tuesday morning, when she went into premature labor. The docs were able to ease the contractions, and the initial prognosis was that Middle Sis would have to remain at the hospital, with strict bedrest, until the baby was born.

But the baby had other ideas. ;-) Friday morning, Middle Sis went into labor again, and at around 8:30 A.M., Niece #4 was born! (Nieces #1, 2, & 3 are the daughters of Oldest Sis, FYI.) She weighs all of 1 pound, 13 ounces (having been born a full 3 MONTHS early!), but is otherwise very healthy. She's in an incubator, of course, and most likely will have to remain in the hospital until April, but she's doing very well. They've even taken her off her respirator already, since she's breathing on her own.

Only parents & grandparents are allowed into the preemie ward, so I won't be able to meet Niece #4 personally until April. But still, so far, so good. :- Middle Sis had a C-section and just came home from the hospital today. I haven't spoken to her yet today (stupid late shift!) but she seems to be doing well.

And speaking of "late shift"...my boss has agreed to extend my weird little temporary gig here until mid-March, because she's heading off on a month-long trip to Nicaragua in February. Good bless these nutty journalists and their wacky fetish for international travel! ;-)

In other news, sometime during the Great LJ Blackout of '05, my laptop went on the fritz. Again. Fortunately, I was able to backup all my files before doing any irreparable harm. I tooled around with the settings for a day or two, until I finally just gave up and reformatted the sucker. I'm still re-installing all of my crap and getting things back in working order, so I haven't been able to go online as much as I'd like. So if I'm not around much for the next few weeks, you can just chalk it up to work and computer craziness and probably sisterly duties as well. (Middle Sis won't be able to drive for the next few weeks, so the parents and I will most likely be helping her out. But on the plus side, she lent me her brand new, bitchin' Honda CR-V to use in the meantime. SWEET!)

Speaking of SWEET, I happened upon a videotape of tomorrow's new QE episode earlier today - one of the perks of working in the media! Since I still don't have Bravo, and have yet to see any of this season's episodes, this is an extra-special treat for me. :-D I won't be able to watch it until late tonight (I don't get off until 9), but if it's good, I'll post a review to queereye or something. I'm just dying for the chance to comment on a new episode, for once! :-P

There was something else I wanted to mention...oh yeah, the snow. We got a FOOT of the white stuff dumped on us on Saturday night. Not fun at all. Although I have to admit, it's a hell of a lot more fun maneuvering through the snow in a new SUV instead of my creaky Corolla...

Life is good. :-)

update, family
