There is a senior colleague called Mr Lin, who is a follower of I Kuan Tao : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I-Kuan_Tao I Kuan Tao is very popular in TW, has many followers, such as Clara's father, one of my Economics professors in the uni, etc.

That's such a great story. I love the juxtaposition of the statue sitting in the grass beside an overturned truck and then the size of the temple built around it and the tarmaced car park... it really shows that where there is a will, there's a way!

My aunt also said that, in the begining, the local people didn't have the money, they volunteered to do the labors and contributed the craftsmanship with small 'income'(that came from the people from other cities coming to worship)- as some of them were masons, carpenters, etc.

As I am reading Pillars of the Earth now, and there is some similarity, I find this very cool! ^^
