so is this the end of days?

A few weeks ago our electricity went out for no reason that we can tell.

Power outages have been happening across the area (Maryland, D.C., Virginia) for the past few weeks it seems.

I've been hearing a lot of sirens lately.

And now we've got three water main breaks in Montgomery county. On the same day. We're supposed to boil our water for the ( Read more... )

moco for the lose, why does this always happen to me, contempt, *rage*

That must mean that my area is, like, the holy land. We haven't had a power outage or a break in water. I wasn't even aware of half of it until school was closed/someone actually mentioned they lost water.
Persevere, hon. ♥

Oh, also, lulz for redundancy in the system. The map they posted on the WSSC website says I can go ahead and drink the tap water like sweet, sweet Kool-Aid, yet their FAQ says that if we receive water through them, we should boil our water of all it's icky germs. Yaaaaaaaay.

Question: where does it say we shouldn't shower? Or is that just a warning from when they said we should restrict water to maintain pressure?

Pleh. This is just really absurd.

Really what it is I think is that they don't really care if we all die of parasites or not. It's just like lolol oops.

They can't decide anything. It was on the news and on websites but I'm like fuck it. I'm not walking around looking like a homeless person.

Oh la Maria, the horror, the horrorrrrr. O.O

I was up until 2AM yelling to my mom about the whole thing and asking her to call WSSC because nothing made seeeeeeeeense. It was very funny when the lights suddenly went out in the middle of all of it. Pshhhh. It's a good thing I'm not afraid of living in a third world country.

Really. I can understand the whole Lake Iowa situation because, well, that's the midwest, and lots of stuff is backwards out there. But we're the colonies, you know, and we're supposed to be civilised over here.

I went to school for a while in Nowhere, Virginia, but now I'm back in Maryland. We're supposed to be One of the Most Affluent Counties in the nation, and we don't even have water without little parasites and who knows what else in it. Blah, it's like, welcome to Rockville, MD a.k.a. Rwanda or something.

Ahhh but I'm bitching now. I'm pretty good at that, you know. :P

Hey, I am from Minnesota, smack dab in the middle of flyover country (the Midwest), and we are plenty civillized. We even loaned our police force to Lake Iowa, in a very classy, generous, neighborly fashion. But I hope your ordeal resolves itself.
p.s. John McCain will bring you bottled water if you are a dehydrated infant, but it will be hot.

Okay, let me walk you through it. I was using sarcasm. To poke fun. At a frustrating situation. Since we don't know each other that well, I'll take the opportunity now to tell you that I am a very snarky person. Incurably, to be honest.

P.S. I will forgive John McCain's warm bottled water for dehydrated infants since he'll make up for it by not allowing terrorists to behead us.

I get that, and actually appreciate snarkiness. I'm just disgustingly defensive of the Midwest. For no good reason.

p.s. No need for terrorist beheadings if everyone's already died from improper taxation.
