O2 works really well in Northumberland where very few signals do if that's any help?..also you can get free pay and go sim cards online..as for unblocking your fone online..I tried that once and got ripped off..it seemed a real option at the time but all I got for my money was a list of other sites that do it for an even bigger fee..I would totally recommend taking it to a shop or even contacting your network and asking for a code to unblock it..also some markets have stalls where they sell fones and other stuff like that and they usually can do it for a small fee..hope that's all of some use to you..(-: xx

Vodafone have in the past had the best network coverage. You could ask someone who lives up there:)
