Summary: When she was 10 years old, Emily met the love of her life.

When she was 10 years old, Emily met the love of her life.
She just didn’t realize it at the time.
Lucky was someone that had been firmly in the friend box for as long as she could remember. Maybe years ago, before she’d met Nikolas, before there was an Elizabeth, she’d fleetingly thought of him as something else, but their estrangement over Laura’s death, her drug addiction, her fixation on a boy that didn’t realize she existed, had all cooled the closeness they’d experienced as children and she’d fallen for her prince.
Emily had always been a believer in fairy tales.
So after the dust of Jason and Elizabeth’s affair had settled, after she and Nikolas had realized that the love they’d once shared couldn’t really be recaptured, it had somehow come full circle to what it had been in the beginning.
Lucky and Emily.
It hadn’t started out as love, rather as a real rekindling of their friendship. They needed each other to get through the pain of losing what they’d both thought were their forevers. Gradually, things shifted. A look from him caused a blush to rise to her cheeks. A casual touch from her caused his heart to race just a little faster. When they kissed for the first time in years as more than just friends, it was as if a missing puzzle piece finally snapped into place.
Without either of them realizing it, they’d fallen in love.
It wasn’t the rush of infatuation turned more that Emily had experienced with Nikolas, or the redemptive love that Lucky had shared with Elizabeth, but it was calmer, steadier. Emily discovered that falling for someone that she’d known for the majority of her life wasn’t like jumping off a cliff, but was more like coming home.
And somehow, she’d always been looking for just that.
