Sometimes Robin missed Jason and Sonny.

Her life now was so different from how it had been the last time she’d lived in Port Charles. It was hard to believe that she’d once held the place Carly now possessed. That she’d been the glue that held Jason and Sonny together.

And now, they were all but strangers.

Oh, she knew they still cared about her. Time and distance and regrets on all their parts had seen to that. But they’d never managed to really renew their connection, and Robin knew that was all their faults.

Some of that was natural. Sonny now had an ex-wife and children, and despite the fact that he’d forgiven her, Robin knew that Jason would never trust her in the same way again.

Robin thought that was fair, because she’d never trust him the same way again either.

And then there was her life. Being a doctor at General Hospital was the fulfillment of life long dreams. Falling in love and only having to worry about the safety of her heart, was what she’d always wanted.

Wanting those things, and having Jason and Sonny in her life weren’t really compatible.

But now, when she was finally on the brink of achieving another of the dreams she’d never imagined possible, she found herself wishing that they could be a part of it. Sure, if she told them about the baby, they would be happy for her. Thrilled, really. They both would understand just how much this meant to her, in way that few other people could. Brenda, Jason, Sonny, and Mac were really the only people left that really understood what it had been like for her at 18, trying to rebuild a life with no expectations for a future.

That was probably why the three of them had formed such a tight bond. None of them really expected to have a future, so being together in the present had been all that mattered.

Once upon a time, she’d dreamed of Jason as the father of her child. She wouldn’t trade this baby with Patrick for anything, but the reality of her past with Jason made it difficult to really share this life altering news with them. With a different choice here or there, this might have been their life, not her life separately from him. Once upon a time, it had been a no brainer that Sonny would have been her child’s godfather. Now, she wasn’t sure if he could even be invited to the christening.

She knew that eventually she would see one of them and that she’d break her news and that they would be genuinely happy for her, and there would be promises to stay in better touch made. Then they’d go their separate ways and the promises would come to naught. That when her child was born, he or she wouldn’t know just how much these men had once meant to their mother.

They’d be strangers.
