Star Wars and me

I'm generally a pretty moderate fan, albeit a purist. There are few fandoms where I am pretty fanboy-ish, though not nearly as much as some. ;) One of those is Star Wars. Since Star Wars had a little celebration for 30 years, I thought I'd talk about its influence on myself ( Read more... )

Huzzah for Star Wars! I've just been waiting for you to do a SW rant, yanno.
I'm with you. The prequels aren't as bad as people say they are, though to preserve the sheer shock of the storyline I still say that they should be watched in order-made, not chronologically.
If you listen, then even though the scene itself is clumsily tacked on, the idea behind the indentity-after-death bit is in the second movie (listen, and you can hear Qui-Gon), and in the originals to a certain extent as well.
The third could have done with some extra time, but war itself is pretty fast. I think that a bit of intake from some of the Expanded Universe would have been good though; it would have been great to see a Yoda battle on Dagobah...

Master Lucas thinking of making another one... -dances-

Yeah, I caught the Qui-Gon bit... George Lucas swore he would reveal the whole thing in the prequels before he even did The Phantom Menace, but I guess there was never a real chance. It would have been quite a tangent.

I read the Narnia books lately, and read them as-written, rather than chronologically. Characters and concepts tend to get better intros and stuff if you do it that way. In Star Wars we still have the Darth Vader thing, if nothing else.

I appreciate your input! :D

Screw more Star Wars, we need more Ewoks! They need to complete the trilogy!

As for Star Wars itself, it'll never die. There's always going to be some kind of new movie or series. Or even remakes because in the future, people will be very unoriginal and remaking classic blockbuster movies will be the only way to go.
