Yeah, I've read it. This is good.

It seems to imply that things used to be better, which I'm not sure is true. On the other hand, I can say that my strong female characters pass the test at the bottom, for the most part. I've often thought on this topic, myself, and come to similar conclusions.

I feel like there was a brief period not long ago where things were better, but it didn't last long.

I feel as if, right when people realized that sexism and racism and stuff were problems, there was a brief period where media makers were very conscious of this and always made sure to have at least one woman and at least one person of colour in everything, but then after that, people sort of became numb the problem and became complacent in how they did things.

I can point at a lot of 80s and 90s shows that handled sexism and racism better than many shows today? They weren't perfect, or anything. I just think people are complacent now, resting on their laurels, to some extent.

I've noticed this about homophobia... In the early 90's, people were starting to push against mistreatment of gay people, and huge strides were made. Now, it feels like things have backslid quite a bit, though that may be due to outspoken hatemongers.

I remember arguing with Whiz on 2k5, waaaay back in the day, about whether Lara Croft was a strong female character or not. I said "No way! She sells her body, first and foremost, over her skills and 'bad ass' attitude!"

I'm curious to hear what you think are good examples of strong female protagonists handled well.
