pluviophile . . .

We live and we learn . . .
Today I learned a new word when someone called me a pluviophile after they looked at the picture and the words I wrote about it. As soon as I was able, I quickly looked up the word and yes, I am a pluviophile.

Yesterday . . .

Many Oregonians agree! Well, perhaps not the "love" part by the time March rolls arounds and we still have months of rain to go. When I lived in Arizona, I would get really jazzed up by a cloudy, monsoon day with rain.

I do love the light and the sun, too, but since my ordeal with skin cancer on my face a few years ago, I avoid it as much as I can now. Probably 90% of our days are filled with sun here and maybe that is why, too, I love an overcast day. It's a nice change. Our spring is usually sunny and little rain, unlike many other parts of the country.

Thank you for giving me a new word, Kathy. When MyJeff and I first started dating (in April '86), most of our dates ended up including walking in rain. I've been a pluviophile ever since.

Ahhh... so you were a pluviophile and didn't know there was even a word for it, just like me. I can't seem to get the new word out of my mind ever since I learned it. For two love birds like you, walking in the rain sounds quite romantic and definitely something I can see you doing and enjoying.

Oh, we definitely enjoyed those walks--especially the occasional pause under trees . . . ;-D
