The Salmon!!!

I’m here to tell you that the salmon was perfection! Ten times better than the salmon I had last week. When someone says, “it melts in your mouth like butter,” this is exactly what they mean. (this is my third post today, and I talked about the salmon earlier in the middle post, too.)
My marinade was mostly my own concoction, whatever I had ( Read more... )

Oh good! I just told Dave about it (he's in charge of the grill). We might have some someday too.

I hope you do! It's like night and day from cooking inside on a stove or in the oven.

That sounds so yummy, Kathy!

Cooking on the board...interesting. I'd never heard of that before.

I think they mostly use cedar to cook on. I'd heard of it for years, just never gave it a try until now. It gives a wonderful smoky, woody flavor. You can buy them here already cut to shape, or cut your own.

where do you find the boards
makes perfect sense
to use the wood for cooking

cedar is a pine- for haddock or cod
would make sense too.
with rosemary?

looks lovely and i don't like to eat fish
but my dad only caught norther pike
think fish that look mean always taste mean.
more like what a tom cat would leave in a corner

We found packages of them in the grocery store where they sell charcoal, etc. I would think you could find them in a hardware store, too, or wherever they sell lumber. I think all kinds of fish or seafood would be great to cook on the plank. If you get thin cut ones, they only last a time or two or three until they burn up. But you want them to smoke and burn so that flavor is infused into the fish. Yes, fresh rosemary sprigs would be excellent!

Fresh seafood is abundant here and we both love it!

Oh, good to hear your brother-in-law cooks that way, too. Does he do any other seafood besides salmon?

Yes, we'll be doing it again!

That is very traditional out here in the PNW - glad you like it. You can cook more than salmon on a plank too...

I've heard that, too. I know I'll be trying other seafood cooked that way. Maybe even veggies.
