Zack....

We had a big send off party for grandson, Josh, on Saturday. He’ll be deployed to Japan in about a week for seven months. We also just heard on the news of the big super tsunami that is going on there right now with winds over 140 mph! Josh wasn’t going there for that when he got news of his deployment, but now the Marines and other branches of ( Read more... )

Thanks, Joan. I was so pleased with this.

After all was said and done, I wished I could have gotten Josh in the same seat, but not meant to be at this time.

My first thought: so good that you had your camera ready to catch this excellent portrait. Zack sure looks like his mom (my second thought).

I'm glad Josh is missing the tsunami but glad he will be there to help cleanup.

Yes, the moments of that excellent light were transient for sure. Wish I could have caught Josh in that same light, but he was busy with his friends outside. Yes, I think Zack looks so much like Laurie.

I got other family pictures outside "at the traditional wall," that I'll send to you in an e mail.

Nice portraits. I really like the first one with the shadows and reflections.

Hope your grandson will be safe. God bless him for his service.

Excellent portraits of Josh. What muscles he has! Yes, he might be sad his brother was leaving. I heard about the cyclone over there. Apparently 600,000 people were evacuated. Still, two people were killed. Threes were uprooted and no doubt there was damage to buildings. I'm glad Zach will be there for the cleanup. What a nice young man to be in service for his country.

You've got the two brothers mixed up, Beth... easy thing to do and I do it all the time. Josh is the older one and in the Marines (no picture of him in this post) and Zack is his younger brother and the one the pictures are of here. The sendoff party was for Josh. Both brothers spend a good amount of time at the gym and working out. I'll have to post a picture of them together one of these days.

Yes, I'm glad the "super cyclone" will be past by the time Josh gets there. I just can't even imagine what living with disasters like that must be like. That is an area that seems to have them on quite a regular basis.

Now, I was trying not to get the brothers mixed up, but I had a feeling that I did! My apologies.

That cyclone would have been devastating and I'm glad I don't live in an area that gets them, too.

Ha! I do it all the time...no apologies necessary. I remember my mom doing that with us three kids and I thought "what's wrong with her that she can't remember our names." Then I started doing it as I got older and more kids and grandkids were added to the list. My daughters used to laugh at me for doing it, and now they are doing it all the time, too with their kids. I love it....it is just destined to be! So we're all in good company. :))

Yes, we have our hurricanes here (nothing like Japan and China), but in our little area, we have been so lucky. The powers that be have been saying for several years that we are long overdue.
