I decided today would be the day to grout Gaia. What a job! I have put together and grouted many mosaics in my time, but this is truly the biggest and most complex one yet. ( Here’s the rest of the story )
She's beautiful. I can't wait to see what she looks like with the rest of her attached! If you don't mind my asking what was the base you used made out of?
Thank you so much. I can only visualize to a certain point, so I'm getting anxious myself to see it all put together.
No, I don't mind you asking at all. It is some kind of solid but bendable hard plastic. A few years ago one the local department stores was going out of business and they were getting rid of all their mannequins, torsos, body parts so to speak. I got a bunch of stuff, including many legs, too. The legs are much more stable than the torsos I got.
I didn't realise that Gaia would be lying down. She will blend into the garden very well. She is very pretty! I think she will be a talking point in your garden for some time to some. I'm sure your visitors will love her.
I look forward to seeing the thin slices of polyurethane. I can imagine the wings in my mind's eye!
As I think I've told you, my granddaughter now wants wings on her tooth fairy doll. I have to knit them, though! I will probably strengthen them with wire.
Yes, reclining in the garden with plants and some rocks around her. She will definitely be a "talking point" and I hope make people do a double take when they see her. :))
I think your knitted wings will be pretty neat. I can't wait to see how you do them. Hope you show them. There's just something so fascinating to me about wings of any kind.

We didn't have any extra ventilation. I don't believe the can said anything about it and there was actually no odor to it.
Oh, that would have been so nice to have the extra help.
