My hometown in pewter….
I get one of these pewter ornaments every year from Jeanne. She was the loving companion for over 40 years of my father-in-law Harry. (They both lived in Franklin all their lives and Harry was the Chief of Police, then the Sherriff of Franklin until he retired.) She began giving me one each Christmas beginning in 1989 ( Read more... )

That's a great set; it's good someone - probably many have kept this project going for so many years.

Thank you.
Yes, from what I read about it, there is a board of people who meet every month and keep this going with new ideas and preservations. They take a lot of pride in their town.

Wow, that is some big collection you have! I have seen photos of a town that your sister took and it is a very pretty looking town. The architecture there looks very nice.

Most likely the photos you saw of my sisters were of Franklin. It is an old town, but they take a lot of pride in preservation and history. I took some nice photos last time I was there and I really do need to get them posted. I hate that I am so far behind in so many things.

I'd love to see your pics if you ever get time to post them. It would be cool if that was the town you were born in.

I knew you had this set but I guess I never looked at it very closely when I was there. Going to have to study it next time I am down there - it does look interesting!

I am amazed at how much detail each one of these has. Did you see St. Patrick's Church? It is in the back row, last one of the right. It was originally built in 1879 and was the ornament for 2001. I love holding them in my hands. There's something about the heft and feel of them that is very appealing and even comforting.

I love these. Lined up together, they make a wonderful picture of the town. I went to the website and had fun looking at the photographs. It's great when a town has that kind of pride.
